What do you guys think about the original apple watch? Is there anything that the new series 1 can do that the original watch can't? Someone is offering to sell a stainless steel original apple watch which is still technically under warrenty (australian 2 year consumer law).

So my question is, what are the major diffrences between the new watches and the original (besides the s2 being waterproof and having gps). Do you guys think that the watch might become obsolete next year?

Anything else i should consider that i might not be aware of? Thanks.

The S1 and S2 both have the faster processors which should allow for longer use. The original is normally referred to as an S0, even though it was never called that by Apple.

Depending on your price point, the S2 SS will be pretty much full price until sometime after Christmas.

The Series 1/Series 2 also offers a brighter screen and Upgraded processor. The Series 2 Watch has a larger battery, which is opted for the use of the GPS.

Both the First Generation and Series 1/2 are primarily the same with the exception of listed options above.

The first Generation Watch does really well with the latest Watch Software update and will easily last you awhile if you choose this route.

Are you sure about the brighter screen on the S1? I thought only the S2 had the brighter screen.

I forgot about the bigger battery on the S2. That will serve you well if you do not use the GPS functions. The S2 is slightly thicker due to the battery and GPS, but not that noticeable when you are wearing it.

Slight correction: Only the S2 has the brighter 1000 nits display. The S1 is the same 450 nits.

Wasn't aware of this. Thanks for sharing.

I own the stainless steel in regular and black stainless, I love the added weight. And you are correct, the S2 has the brighter display.

Orignal works almost as well as my secret decoder ring.

Depends on what you are using it for, should be a fine watch.

38 comes with white and pink band. Watch is used

seems like a pretty decent price for the SS if in good condition and not all scuffed up with micro abrasions.

For comparison purposes I picked up a brand new 42MM from B&H Photo on black friday for $269 (series 0) I am happy with the decision and the price.... Dont really need GPS and wont go swimming with the watch so I rather save the money over the series 2 and wait for a re-design in series 3 hopefully.

I have two series "0"'s, one that I bought during a closeout in October. It really depends on your use. The original watch tells time just as well as the newer versions. Notifications and exercise tracking are not taxing on the processor. There's not a lot I do that needs a faster processor, but we all place different demands on our devices.

From what I understand performance-wise, the newer models offer smoother animations and faster app load times for apps not already in memory. The most appealing feature of the newer versions is better battery life. I'm reading reports of outstanding battery life on here. My watches easily make it through the day. On heavy exercise days, I may be in the 10's, but I end my lazy days at 40+%.

As I said, we all expect different things from our gadgets, and what works for me may not work for anyone else. Plus, who knows what wonderful features OS4 will bring to S1 and S2 but not "S0".

I'm happy with my original Sport. I got it in July or August 2015 so I came to it late in the cycle but I don't regret that at all.

In terms of performance, the only niggles I see are some jittery animations, such as when changing the number of breaths in Breathe, and moving to the home screen from Solar watch face.

My understanding is the S1P is only the faster processor rather than improved graphics, so I don't know if the Series 1 helps much with these animations. Perhaps someone here with the Series 1 can say?

For now, while it runs current software, go for the cheapest Watch you can get and see what comes when the original no longer supports current software.

I'm getting the stainless for around 160 usd. Would you guys say that's a good price?
Yes. It's a good price for a SS. There is nothing wrong with series 0. Series 1 and 2 are not super fast in relation to series 0. The noticeable speed increase for usage is minimal. If next years Watch is a redesign maybe it's a wiser choice to pick up a series 0 now and use it until then. If you love it, upgrade then. For now unless one needs the GPS and swimming functions it's a waste of money unless you must have the lastest...but not necessarily the greatest by a mile.

I Cant get with the whole Series 0.
The first Watches were First Generation.
The Series 1/2 are both Second Generations with feature differences.
To me that the easiest way to describe them.

Aside from the software differences, both First Generation and Series 1/2 are physically
The same, with the exception of Series 2 having a slightly thicker casing due to the larger battery variant.

Nice. Post a picture sometime to share.

It's syncing now but this is what it looks like.
