What's the problem ? I'm 40 and I still read comics. Do you think that most of TV, cinema, book stuff is any better or more...ehm...mature ???

Well, where do we draw the line between adult and child activities/toys? Is an adult male playing with Tonka trunks appropriate? What about the same male watching Scooby Doo? I just don't get why adults would read comics. I'm not saying it's wrong/bad, but it is odd to me personally.

a lot of comics are adult orientated and not suitable for kids.

why do you feel the need to draw a line/label on adult/child activities? People should do what they enjoy, if you're 30 and still want to build legos, by all means, build legos. A lot of people have your same mentality with video games. Adult shouldnt be playing them etc. Its odd

you do realize that comic books etc are all made by adults right??

The iPad 2 and 3 are nice but I have no shame to still be rocking my iPad 1 I'm gonna get the next one or the iPad 3 when new comes out I don't need to have the latest if it ain't broke then do try to fix. :)

I ended up going with a new ipad. I was able to get an excellent deal for a BNIB new ipad from someone who had won one at a work raffle.

So I'm all set, thanks for all of the replies.

And comics aren't just for kids, I'm turning 30 in October.

Because you are uninformed about the types of comic books available. Did you know that the comic book "Maus" by Art Spiegelman won a pulitzer prize in 1992? There are MANY other mainstream comic books that are only appropriate for adults.

On a related note, same goes for things like "cartoons". If you have ever watched Family Guy, you will know that it is only appropriate for adults. The bottom line is, it is not the medium of art that defines whether it should be for adults or children, but the content, subject matter, etc.

Most comic readers are adults and most comics are aimed at adults.

I thought they were geared toward kids. I guess I learned something. So, what are the main ones you guys read and where do you buy them?

i get most of mine from barnes and noble, half priced books, or hastings, but now that i have the new ipad its a lot more convenient buying them on my ipad :)

I buy nearly everything in trade paperback or hardcover (aka graphic novel) format from Amazon. Comixology is cool and I buy books I really like there, but because it is a proprietary format and you don't truly own what you are buying I don't buy a ton of stuff there (or things I don't already own in book format).

Amazon or eBay for me.

The stuff I read stretches across loads of genres - from superheroes (some of which is kid friendly, some of which isn't), horror, autobiography, crime, zombie, science fiction, fantasy, comedy.

I get them exclusively digital now, but amazon is good for graphic novels and such.

Go check out Sandman by Neil Gaiman. Absolutely beautiful and definitely not for children.

Assuming you're not a child? How old ARE you actually?

I find it hard to believe that in a day and age where we have decidedly adult-marketed comic moves like Watchmen, Sin City, V for Vendetta, The Dark Knight Rises and even The Avengers that someone doesn't know or figure that not only do adults read comics, but there are comics created specifically for adults.

Unfortunately that's a problem that still plagues this kind of medium. Adults don't feel ashamed to watch TV crap (and in some cases they really should) but they do when it comes to comics even if that's Watchmen or Le Garage Hermétique.

Same goes for videogames, even if when I was still playing WOW I met people ranging from 11 to over 60 years old.
