i run it on my base mini, while also keeping multiple browsers open and 2 screens. runs perfectly fine for me. you have to adjust the ram settings on tos so it doesnt lag. tos doesn't run natively yet on the m1, its coming soon and when it does it will probably run even smoother for me than it already does.
which settings did you adjust the ram too? both fields all the way to the max?

Got my Mini. Finally set it up with all of the windows I have. Even though its night time, its lagging a little. Never did this for me at night with Futures and Forex runnning. After the bell at 9:30am ET when the stock market opens, it lags the most. Can already tell tomorrow won't be too good. Hopefully it becomes native on BS, takes longer to sign in too

TD Ameritrade hasn't released an M1-native version of Thinkorswim, but since it runs using Java, if you are comfortable with Terminal commands, you can install your own by downloading a few files, including Java for ARM. It runs so much better than using the Mac version from the TD Ameritrade website. Check out some of these links:

Thanks bud, i will have to check it out for sure. Have no idea how to do it right now, as this M1 Mini is my first Mac lol

yeah, TOS is wayyy slower than my Windows PC like I thought after the bell. man, i wonder when they'll optimize it for OS

side note: Firefox takes up more ram for me than Chrome, lol. with the same tabs and everything

Anyone have an estimate when TOS will be optimized for the M1? I can still use it, it just isn't as fast as Windows so I place my orders on my PC

I do. The M1 Mini easily runs TOS at 5K in HiDPI mode and it works smooth as butter, whereas my 2018 Mac Mini could only handle TOS at 1920 x 1200 (NON HiDPI) *sorta* smooth.
I usually have a Chart on the left, Options on the right, and a few Level 2 (realtime market data) and watchlists open at all times, and I often use the analyze window as well. The M1 chugs along just fine. Only have to manually empty the memory every once in a while but this is generally good practice in TOS.

I definitely prefer running TOS on MacOS as it's easier managing windows and on Windows 10 you can't run TOS in HiDPI mode. It will simply blow up the pixels four times the size which will look blurry. I suppose you can set Windows 10 to diplay at 100% and just run TOS at native 5K but that's just a hassle and never looks quite right. Let alone your mouse speed and acceleration being totally different.

Don't expect it ever will. TOS is emulation on emulation essentially. It's great for what it does: great charts, great analyzing tools, and free Level2 data. (Although they do require a minimum deposit of $2000 nowadays.) Just use a direct access broker like IB or light speed for your orders.

Does Light Speed or IB have a DOM with order entry like Active Trader on TOS? Just wondering because, I agree, speed is essential for certain kinds of trading. Thanks.

DOM? I think you mean Level II? IB also has Level II modules but you have to pay monthy fees for live market data. If you're on a shoestring just use TOS for that, do your (limit) orders in IB.
With Lightspeed it's free but you have to have fund your account with at least $25000.

No meant a Depth of Market matrix like with the Active Trader ladder on TOS. I think Light Speed has one but I am not sure. Thought you might know. This works better for me then just the regular level 2. Thanks.

How do I run it at HiDPI mode? not even sure where the settings are for that but i'm interested lol. would love to have it run as smooth as windows does. do you think it also has to do with connections? my DL speed is almost 1gb, my upload speed is about 41-42mb

So surprisingly, I had to use my M1 Mac Mini for TOS today bc 1 of my mini PC's died... TOS is actually not slow and laggy like it used to be. Is this because of Sonoma? Anyone have a similar experience?

TOS finally got native Apple Silicon recently. The installer and application initially require Rosetta, but once all of the updates are complete, if you look in Activity Monitor, you will see that it runs natively on Apple Silicon.

I had a quick chat with a rep from TOS just now and they said it is Native for M1 chips. Asked if there'd be more updates with newer chips and he said he believes so

java-arm it says
Yeah, TOS runs in Java, which is why it was possible to manually install the Apple Silicon build of Java and get TOS up and running natively for a while now, but it would break eventually after an update. Now we don't have to worry about the workaround. Hopefully Schwab continues to improve TOS.
