ThinkSecret.com officially went offline today, after the December announcement that they had settled their lawsuit with Apple. As part of the settlement agreement, ThinkSecret agreed that they would stop publishing, but due to existing advertising obligations they continued publishing in a limited fashion until February 14th.

ThinkSecret founder, Nick Ciarelli, is rumored to have received some amount of monetary compensation from Apple as part of their final settlement.

That is a shame. I stopped going there a while ago, but remember the days when it was the first stop for juicy, believable rumours. Good luck Nick :(

Not happy or sad

Just a fact of life. Websites come and go by one cause of another. There forum site is still online however (applenova.com)

i am loosing fate in Apple.
Buying off journalists and closing websites.
Not even Microsoft does that.

Think Secret was my first foray into Apple rumor sites, 4 years ago. I witnessed their decline in writing/rumors, and through community posts found AI and MR and moved on. Still, they were one of the originals and one with some of the juiciest stuff - hence the lawsuit, et al. I feel, though, that I've said my goodbyes a long time ago, as I haven't actively visited their site in years.

Wow...

So now it's Think Secret, appleturns.com, and crazyapplerumors.com We're losing the websites that helped form our Mac culture and now we're getting more switchers than ever before. We're not going to be the same after the next few years...

It's because Microsoft don't have to worry about Microsoft copying them. If that makes any sense.
Plus Microsoft aren't a secretive company in comparison to Apple.

Very lame. I thought I had misread all the stories about them going away since they were still here. In fact I just went there yesterday! (Gots to check for Macbook Pro rumors :D )

Sad day indeed....

Now my Mac News Tab will be down to MacRumors/AppleInsider/MacBytes.

I found that Think Secret lost a lot of "umph" when everything with Asteroid first went down. It wasn't the same site after that.

Think Secret hasn't been the same for quite awhile now, and we all knew that this was coming. so its hardly a surprise.

I enjoyed TS in its day, but what's done is done. My thanks to the creator(s) of the site. They did a fantastic job of ferreting out info and unabashedly announcing it to the world on their front page. Between TS and AppleInsider, I have no idea how Apple ever kept anything secret.

But oh well. Websites may come and go, but sources for leaks live on. :D
