It also does not mean that they did harm Apple, how can you prove that Apple would have sold more if there wasn't a leak? or that the reaction woudn't have been as lackluster?, you can't, just like I can't prove that Apple isn't harmed by said leaks.

Really selling 80 million iPods in 2004, or something astronomical like that, I would call not that shabby. If Apple is hurt by said leaks, I would think that it would be nominal, if at all, and that is all I am trying to say.

I guess we will just call this one a stale mate. :)

This is the problem though - people keep mixing the iPod's success with Apple Computer's success as a whole.

What rumors (such as Think Secret posts) do is hurt Apple's forecasting and guidance ability for stock analysts.

THE ONLY reason Apple stock is as high as it is - is due to the iPod.

Apple or Secrets?

I reckon TS should be able to get out of this OK, but the contractors or staff who have "spilled the beans", for whatever reason, if they have signed or work under the restraints and legal obligations of a NDA, should be taken to the wall.

I do not know any Apple user, who has used Macs, iPods, or "computers made for people", should defend any illegal action by Apple's empoyees or contractors.

Apple can do with a little bad press if it means culling out the renegade staff who put their and Apple's own future at risk.

Rumour sites shoud be just that, rumours/ dreams / hopes.. but not specifics told illegally to a 19 year old to place on his web site. A Journalist, I think not, but his sources are breaking both their contractual arrangements with Apple, and also the law.

Steve Jobs has every right to weed them out and get rid of them, and all Mac (Apple) users should regard that as fair and right, unless they too are in the position of working against their own employer, company or future.

I hope rumour sites return to being rumours, dreams and hopes (or a way to get those to Apple), but not based on illegally gained information from obviously "below IQ" Apple employees.

It provides no benefit to anyone, and when we wake up early after a MacWorld to check the Apple site, we will again be impressed the with accuracy and non accuracy of rumours, not the illegal "facts" gained from people who can not be trusted by Apple, nor likely by their partners (legal obligations there as well) or their best friends.

Possibly Apple already knows who they are, and I hope SJ does get rid of them, that Apple continues to prosper, and continues to ignite the world with the fact that we all "Can Think Different", but we do not have to praise dishonest employees, nor those who seek benefit from their illegality

A very well thought out post, Tobeupat4am. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. What has been done by those employes and contractors kind of ruined it for Mac fans. It will be interesting to see how all this shakes out. Welcome to MacRumors. ;)
