I'm using the latest beta and it SCREAMS!

Love how Microsoft sped things up! Instant launching of Excel and Word!

Nice!

I assume you're using Beta 4? I've seen on other forums that beta 4 has been released and Messenger has been given a bit of a face lip in the looks department. I for one am excited once Office 2011 is released I'm going for the trifecta of iPad + Adobe CS5 + Office 2011 :)

Yep.
When everyone gets their hands on Office 2011, I think we'll all be very pleased.

They've done a great job and put up a stiff barrier for iWork to deal with.

I've not had a ton of hands on time with it so far but my major irritations with Office 2008 have been addressed.

1. Start up is a lot faster
2. Excel can properly draw graphs with thousands of data points without freezing up.
3. You can switch between multiple windows of the same application properly now, either through expose or with cmd + ~.
4. Proper full screen mode!

Look, I'm a graphic designer and have 8000 fonts on my machine. It is the year 2010 and certainly by now Microsoft should have been able to figure out how to handle a lot of fonts without taking the program 10 minutes to start up.

Office programs are the only ones that seem to need to scan every font on the system before launching.

Scanning for fonts should only be a one off experience when launching it for the first time - and the scanning is for more than just 'finding' but to also cache the fonts so when you use the drop down list you don't have a delay then. It slows down the launch so that the experience later on is snappier.
