G4 Cube, iPhone 3GS, Ping

There were all sorts of weird and wonderful names under Jobs
Actually that iPhone 3G is a great name 🤣🤣🤣. Coming from the IPhone to the iPhone 3G. Why Apple needed to make sure people knew the phone was 3g capa le and not just tell it was the iPhone 2 🤦🏻‍♂️. Great point of view you had here!

„Plus“ makes not much sense to me but anything is better than how Sony names it’s gadgets I suppose.

The „Plus“ is the bigger version of the regular iPhone yet the „Max“ is the bigger version of the „Pro“ 🤷🏽 makes more sense to me to keep it consistent

iPhone > iPhone Max
iPhone Pro > iPhone Pro Max

These honestly look entirely too small after seeing the phones that Xiaomi/Leica have produced.

I’m sure there will be some technological advances, but they’re not going far enough (sensor-wise), and I think that next year there will be an even bigger increase. That’s the one I’m waiting for.

Great Scott!

Look at the size of that thing! What’s the point of a good camera when it’s going to tip over out of your hand from being so top heavy, lol. 🤣

True. 14 Pro looks ridiculous.

And the 14 Max isn’t too attractive either.

The 14 and 14Pro Max look actually good as far as camera arrays go.

The names are still ******. Under Steve Jobs:
iBook, iMac
PowerBook, PowerMac

Since then
iPhone Normal, Pro, Pro Max, Plus, SE
Why is it not Pro Plus? Or Max instead of Plus?
M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra
Why here Ultra and not Pro Max?
Why not for iPhones:
iPhone XS, XM, XL and
iPhone Pro XS, XM, XL
Or anything else, that is remotely more consistent in its naming.
And yet they all mostly sell like hot cakes. I can only conclude that nobody really GAF.

PowerMac G3, PowerMac G4, PowerMac Cube, PowerMac G4 Gigabit Ethernet, PowerMac G4 Quicksilver, PowerMac G4 Mirrored Door, PowerMac G5; Powerbook Wallstreet, Powerbook Lombard, Powerbook Pismo, Powerbook Titanium, Powerbook Aluminum in three sizes, etc.

What about iPod Scroll Wheel, iPod Touch Wheel, iPod Click Wheel, iPod Mini, iPod Nano, iPod Shuffle, iPod Photo (which plays video but doesn't have video in its name), iPod Color Display, iPod Classic, iPod Touch
M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra
PPC, G3, G4, G5, Core, Core 2Duo, and a bunch of Mhz and Ghz measurements, some with turbo boost, others without.
Why here Ultra and not Pro Max?

What does XS mean without Small? What does XM mean without Medium? How can something be Extra Medium? What does XL mean without Large?

I agree that the naming could be cleaned up but your inevitable "Steve Jobs would never" comment is misplaced, because all of his products had simple names at the beginning, but complex variations of those names after several years. I don't think we need the names of the computers and phones to be consistent with each other.

Although one of the devices is labeled iPhone "14 Plus," there is no reliable evidence to suggest that this will be the device's final naming, with the "14 Max" moniker being more likely in parallel to the "iPhone 14 Pro Max."

iPhone > iPhone Max
iPhone Pro > iPhone Pro Max

Ultra Max, Ultra Max Pro, Ultra-ultra Pro Max Pro, Excelsior, Magnum Max Pro Ultra, Magnum, P.I….

Which one is the best?

I don't think we need the names of the computers and phones to be consistent with each other.

But we do need for them to logical and remotely connected with their meaning, especially for the ranking of the models.

Let's admit that the naming is getting ridiculous, especially when the consumer encountering the names, e.g., of the models or Silicon chips, can't even tell which one is better and which is the best!

Of course, the price tag offers a clue…😎

Screw the camera bump. Make the phone thicker and give me just a bonkers battery. Like, a week+ of usage.

The iPhone 14 names make sense with these understandings.
1. Max = Maximum size
2. Pro = Best camera array, more RAM, highest specs.

There is a large enough gap between calling the large phones "Plus" and "Max" that its not worth mentioning in the context of consistency.

You seriously care about this? If you do....man, I wish I had so few problems in my life I could list this complaint as one of them.
