So if they didn't have a switch to enable/disable NSFW content then they wouldn't have been removed? Makes no sense. You can just as easily search for any of this on Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, the official Reddit app, etc. I just assume they all have the money to bribe Apple to look the other way.

Search google chrome in App Store. Rated as 17+ for unrestricted internet access. And plus a good amount of 1 star rating in Japanese App Store. Interesting.

Why Apple just put 17+ to not allow kids to download them? Yeah, follow this logic, chrome should also be pulled. And what about safari? It does have unrestricted Internet access right? Wait, it has settings to filter improper contents like pronographic contents? And oh, we have restrictions to limit that even further? Cool, 4+.

In some certain matters, Apple does nothing different than someone I know. Like this, inconsistency in reviewing and executing policies. Maybe, Apple should divert their resources to also review all their policies altogether? Maybe, Apple is not needed to stand against US government from the very beginning?

Narwhal is back up. They had to remove their NSFW settings and sync them to the setting on reddit.com to get back on the App Store.

https://www.reddit.com/r/getnarwhal/comments/4eeiuc/we_are_back_with_22_help_us_recover_with_5_star/

Wow, what a day! We thought we were going to be releasing 2.2, but it ended up with narwhal being pulled from the app store. But guess what! We are back and better than ever with 2.2 now released for everyone!

Now I am going to be completely shameless and ask for your help, since we lost our search ranking and our top news ranking by being pulled. Please please give us a 5 star rating in the app store. It helps us SO much. Now here is all the good stuff in 2.2:

  • Content filters. Remove content based on keywords or subreddits you don't like.
  • Shortcuts. Add your favorite subreddits to make them easier to find in the menu.
  • Customize the top section in the menu. You can now add random, and myrandom.
  • Adds subreddit search under explore
  • Imgur will no longer have a blinding white background in night mode
  • Adds support for random, and myrandom (gold only) in "enter a subreddit"
  • 3D touch peek no longer marks the thread as read
  • Launch screen is now darker to match night mode
  • Fixes crash when tapping email addresses
  • Fixes crash when reddit is down
  • Fixes issue where the app would lock up while refreshing a subreddit
  • Fixes issue with keyboard appearance in subreddit search
  • Fixes issue with imgur posts loading the wrong image
We added an awesome new "advanced settings" section accessible from the preferences screen:

  • Adds setting to automatically hide read posts
  • Adds setting to collapse comments by default to show only the web content
  • Adds setting to open safari view controller when long pressing on posts
  • Adds setting to remember big image mode per subreddit.
  • Adds setting to show comments during 3D touch (this means the default is now to hide comments).
In order to comply with Apple's review guidelines, we had to remove the settings around NSFW content. We will now obey the settings from your reddit.com preferences.

Thanks again for all of your support. It means so much to all of us.

Then they also need to ban WhatsApp and all other messaging applications that can be used to send NSFW images. And all web browsers. And PDF viewers, surely NSFW PDFs exist...

I'm wondering if this was some automated system that auto pulled the apps. I imagine once it gets reviewed more thoroughly they'll be reinstated, otherwise a lot of social apps are coming down.

Doesn't seem like a surprise to me that Reddit would get pulled. Around 10% of the 'all subreddits' list is pornographic. It's strange that the apps have never set off the censors before, to be honest.
Are you sure? FYI, "porn" on Reddit has become a slang for not-porn-but-visually-appealing, so for example, you may have seen the "EarthPorn" subreddit with nature photography.

Better pull Tapatalk too. And Social network apps. And every RSS app. And web browser. And pictures app.

0/10 Apple.
