Confirmed from T-Mobile chat support:

JOD customers will have two options, one of them chosen at checkout time based on account eligibility (factors include length of time as a customer and T-Mobile credit rating). Customers eligible for $0 down payment will pay $41/mo. Customers not eligible for a $0 down payment will pay $279.99 down, and their monthly installment will be $26 over 18 months.

tmobile has its own credit ranking systems for customers?

AT&T is offering the same deal, I just didn't see it as of last night when I wrote this post. I've updated with it! $300 off with trade in of iPhone 7 Plus. $200 with other devices.

Where is the source link for this? I’m not trying to argue with you, but I work for the company and I don’t see this anywhere.

It's the main banner image on the AT&T website right now, but it doesn't link to anything as far as I can tell.

WOW

best buy is showing the retail price of the 256 GB phone at $1249 instead of $1149. how can that be? how can they charge $100 more than apple for the same exact product?

Best Buy had a similar error on the website for iPhone 8/8 Plus pre-orders. Not sure why. It did clear up before pre-orders went live, though, so I'm assuming this error will also be fixed before tonight.

Thank you for this. It’s not on our employee portal yet, so I don’t have any details. Thank you so much for this info. Big help.

I just confirmed with Apple, if you are a TMobile customer you WILL NOT be able to pre-order an iPhone X from them. They blamed the system that TMobile uses to transfer a phone, but this is a decision that Apple has made, it effectively stops all TMobile customers from pre-ordering an iPhone X.

Sweet. Less competition opening night

Best Buy has always charged 100 more. They did for the 8 and 8 plus as well and the 7 series. They want more profit per phone I guess

Basically they get some kind of bonus from the carrier if they sell a phone on carrier financing, and the price increase is designed to either prevent people from buying outright or make up for the lost kickback when people do buy in full.

I just don't think this is real.

Only 37 comments so far! I used to remember when things are exciting on preorder next night this forum is loaded with conments. I guess this is a boring year for Apple then.:D

Dumb question. I’m on Verizon and my current phone is paid in full. I want to order an iPhone X and put it on a Verizon device payment plan, not an Apple plan. Do I have to order through Verizon or can I order through Apple or any third party for that matter (Walmart, Best Buy etc.)?

Order through the Apple Store app and you can choose one of the Verizon payment plans.

Best Buy charges $100 more to stray people away from buying the phone outright. They make no money if that happens. They make way more when someone does the installment billing or lease and those prices are the same as everyone else. It’s just the outright price that is more.

Wrong, you can preorder but you won’t be able to pre-order as part of the iPhone upgrade program.
