It is probably just this https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804564732482.html which I tried. It's not a bad watch but the fitness tracking on it sucks.
Thanks for the link. Some one-star reviews were amusing. Even a five-star review managed a veiled insult: "Bought to give away, and no doubt that was a great choice." Funny.

Another review linked to a youtube unboxing:

Fascinating stuff. Crude UI, but it's still quite amazing what's been cobbled together.

Before all the Apple fanfolk completely hyperventilate at this 'blatant ripoff', let's take a moment to consider that the company is clearly not aiming at the 'more money than brains' crowd that the Apple Watch aims for. And probably at the market where $48 is a big deal.
Let's take another moment to consider that Apple is far clear of their own blatant ripoffs (sorry....'reverse engineering') going as far back as the mouse and windows GUI as created by IBM PARC, or, say, more recently, arguably the original Touch / iPhone vs the Palm TX.
Steve Job's offered to give 5% of Apple shares to Xerox if they share the technology.
No Apple didn't the design or technology, Steve asked permission from Xerox to visit their R&D centre too.
iPhone is not even close to Palm TX, none of them had decent hardware.
WebOS UI was great though, i tried HP tablet with WebOS, UI is great but hardware was not great and OS was not optimized.

I wouldn't be shocked if it was exactly like this watch.

I do have to laugh at this feature...no Messenger, it's a um...wrist Massager! 🤣
Heheh

Well, looks like Apple’s AppStore Security Team approved the Zordai App for the ripoff watch.
All fine then, I wouldn’t question Apple’s AppStore Security Team competence in any way. /s

Yea. For what it is, it’s not bad. I wanted to just get a feel for what a bigger watch would feel like. I plan on getting the Ultra after in the new year, which will be my first Apple Watch.

Like I mentioned, the fitness tracking isn’t good. I am currently using a cheap VIRMEE smart watch and it it’s a good phone for what it does. It did better asleep tracking than apple until this past update and its fitness tracking is great. The cheap ultra ripoff told me I burned less then 10 calories and walked like 20 steps after 44 minutes on an elliptical

Just so long as your MacBook Pro wasn't built before 2017 and the software you want to use is still available for that vintage of OS...

Or if what it will run works fine for your needs. I had an "obsolete" Mac Mini Duo running as a NAS server for years after it went obsolete by Apple's standards. Worked just fine.

Meanwhile, let's face it - unless your doctor recommends one to monitor your health, or you are doing some serious sports (remembering to not wear it while skiing lest it calls in 911 or a emergency tracking request via satellite), there are very few who actually need (versus 'want') a smartwatch.

Different people have different needs. For some, a smartwatch is a perfect tool for what they want to be able to do; for others it is simply a piece of jewelry. YMMV.

I've tried to take advantage of / justify its 'features', and really, its just a spectacular piece of PT Barnum-worthy gimmickry

Then clearly you had no need for it. In my case, I find a cellular AW a very useful piece of kit. I don't need to take my iPhone with me all the time to get calls, calendar, reminders, mail, etc. It's also less intrusive to glance at its always on face to see if that text I am waiting for has come through than pulling out my phone to check. But that's my use case. Again, YMMV.

I disagree. While there hardware was nothing spectacular it definitely was fit for purpose, IMHO.

Having used a variety of Palms (and Handsprings) from the original Pilot through the Tungsten, I found them quite good at their intended function. They were quite versatile, for example I had an expense app that I used to track expenses as incurred and could export the results to a CSV that I would import into the corporate expense reporting software. It saved me a lot of time and prevented me from forgetting an expense.

The Treo was a quite useful smartphone as well.

Pebble watch waterproofing is rated at IP67 which means: 67% of the time, it works every time

Technology is shared and bought throughout all the tech companies. It is fairly well-known Apple uses Samsung screens on their iPhones. Remember pinch-to-zoom? Android didn’t have that on their devices, either. I believe that’s an Apple IP. The point is they recycle ideas, processes and product pieces amongst themselves with permission. Hopefully, it makes it so technology advances to the point where I see teleportation and flying cars one day 😂

Not sure why MacRumors is giving this airtime if it's such a ripoff. Except maybe to rile up the regulars.

Please, MacRumors, don't become Fox News cable news and cater to the lowest common denominator.

Just don't.

I hope main goal is to give awareness of such knockoffs on the market.
