Just imagine if the iPhone 4 worked perfectly. There would be 75% less traffic. I think the gadget blogs are helping perpetuate the factiousness in some way.

At the end of the day, this is simply a forum of public opinion. A group of people expressing themselves. I find it both thought provoking & interesting.

...It was not always this way.

Agreed. The level of boorishness on the site has increased greatly. I love reading through other people's thoughts here, but for the first time today found myself reporting someone who'd basically called another an idiot.

I don't like censorship, but junk and noise posts contribute nothing. If you see weeds, report them. Help the mods keep this place civilized.

I´ve spent some time on the world of warcraft forums (european), they were terrible! basicaly there was never a discution, NEVER.

All the fault of PRSI sub-forum, we've let members there screw with each other too long.

Now they bred, multiplied, and are running free creating havoc in the rest of MacRumors.

For me, the problem is that the forum is not that interesting anymore. It's rare to find a post that gives advice, support or talks deeply about some sort of cool app that could increase productivity, etc... Usually it's just people ranting about how much they love or hate this or that. Which is fine every once in a while, but this is happening everyday, on almost every topic. It becomes almost as abrassive as reading the sensationalists posts at Gizmodo of the past few months.

Avoid threads dealing with new products. They are posted to so fast you won't be able to follow them anyway, and they are breeding grounds for trolls. Wait till a product is 6 months old and then go discuss. ;)
