My 2.4 GHz Macbook does not do this. I don't think you need to worry. From what I've read, however, the new Macbook's magnetic latch is a little weaker than the previous model though. If you hold it upside down it will open open slightly, but the hinge is stron enough not to let the screen flop open.
 
Is there anything that can be done to prevent that happening on the New MBP's? WIll apple fix it with the next revision?

Don't know. It appears to be designed that way due to the weight of the glass panel. It is a bit annoying but not a flaw per se. Not a super big deal and I've been using mine with very few accidental closings.
 
I don't see why it's a big deal really. Most likely you won't use the laptop in that position so I don't think you should worry.
