are there any music apps that incorporate 'up next' type of functionality really well?

Hi all, I just stumbled on this thread – thanks for the (mostly!) kind words :). For some more examples of that colourful blurring effect, here's a big collage I made out of seventy-odd screenshots: http://cjoseph.com/post/70399651580/picky-is-now-a-lot-more-colourful

PS: I’m just putting the finishing touches on my next update to Picky, which includes a queuing / up next feature :).

Cheers,
Charles

PPS: I should mention, the colour-theming feature can be turned off from the Settings app. Understandably it's not for everyone.

May I request a white text setting for the Now Playing screen?

That design doesn't make sense from an iOS7 perspective. They don't use translucency to make things look nicer, they use it to provide some depth, so that you know that the screen you are looking at is a detailed version of something that you triggered from the previous screen, and that is now behind. Translucency in iOS 7 means usually that you can go back to whatever is behind.

Hi Charles,

Since you're visiting here today, may I make a couple of other requests for Picky?
  1. Universal app with iPad support.
  2. On iPad, Collection view with a grid layout for artists and albums.
On iPad, it would also be nice to have a split view for master-detail display, but that's less critical than the first two requests. I have a very large music collection, and simply being able to find things quickly would be a huge help.

Thanks for a very good music app! Please keep working on it!

Hi Cyloncat, thanks! I’m still working on it and planning for several more updates, but I can't promise whether I’ll ever get around to adding iPad support. I’d like to, but there are still a bunch of other features I’m hoping to work on first.

Musio doesn't look half bad, and comes with a simple to use queue:

And while they are at it Collapsed albums like they were in iOs6.

Musio has that too. :) How freaking ridiculous is it that the built-in Music app doesn't?!
