Any difference between ordering from Apple vs Verizon?

Apple has been through this madness a few times between iPhones and the iPad, so they know what to expect and how to deal with it. The biggest launches VZW has dealt with have been the BB Storm (which was awful) and the HTC Incredible and Moto Droid X. Their sales numbers didn't approach what has gone on with iPhones, and VZW botched all of those launches. I'm going to go with Apple if I can.

Don't forget the original motodroid.

Sounds like Apple is going to be the best shot. Wish VZW would have hooked us up with some better instructions especially since its nearly 3am over here. Maybe the hype is all in my head but I don't think VZW knows what they are in for. Good luck everyone!

So does anyone know, if it is best to go to the upgrade device section and preorder it there on the verizon website?

I wonder if there will be any difference between shipping costs/times? I mean, usually Verizon ships overnight for free, right? I wonder if Apple.com will offer the same?

from apple: "We've set aside a limited quantity of iPhone 4 models for existing Verizon customers to pre-order on February 3 for free delivery on February 10"

So are you guys going to log in right at the magic time, or are you going to log in ahead of time and refresh the upgrade page?

The VZW site is now stopping you from being able to view the list of phones from which you can choose your upgrade. You can get through steps 1 and 2, but it stops there. Was able to get farther than that five minutes ago, just no iPhone as an option.

EDIT: must have been an error, I can get back to the list now but still no iPhone - 2:44 AM

Annnnnnd Verizon's site is already down. This should be fun.

By the way, the launch time has been pushed to 4AM EST. :D
