Yeah, I have the Retina Macbook Pro so this is my 2nd Apple investment! :D

How is the screen shattering thing? I'm scared for that.

Just treat it like what it is and not like a toy and you'll be fine. Things you did with a plastic phone are not a good idea...tossing it to your friend across the room, keeping it in your back pocket, etc.

The #1 thing to expect is snide remarks from people on macrumors ;)

Watch out for them and don't let them troll you with mean responses getting you mad.

Edit: See above :p

Excellent advice. I fell victim to that once and let it get to me. Not worth the time or effort.

I can't offer much help because it'll be my first iPhone too! I hope you enjoy it.

My first iPhone as well. I'm also switching to a new carrier as well. New everything for me! I'm coming from a old Galaxy 1 so a major upgrade for me.

I wouldn't be. It's pretty durable. It's Gorilla Glass though they don't advertise it as such. I have had no issues with it and don't use a screen protector or a case. A colleague actually did manage to shatter the glass on his (I think it was a nasty fall), but the Apple Store was able to fix in in minutes and charged a whopping $30.

As for the switch from Android to iOS, I had a Nexus One for nearly 2 years before getting the 4S. The only things I missed were turn-by-turn navigation, which has been addressed by iOS 6, and the dashboard widget that lets you toggle Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on and off from the home screen. Most other things are nicer on the iPhone, including the hardware quality, smoothness of the OS, and mail client.

What happens if I don't have AppleCare? Is it still $30?

i agree, this forum is terrible. Seems like a lot (not all) apple users are complete dicks. I use a few different forums and this is by far the most negative one.

Anyway, you can expect better quality and support from apple. the OS is slick and super stable. lotsssss of apps! basically your going to love it!
