And continue to endlessly hear from the Tech Media about how Apple can't innovate anymore, instead focusing on mere revisions.....

You just can't win when it comes to Apple these days. You're either screwed by lazy reviewers, or armchair designers on the internet (that then get cited by the lazy reviewers for click bait articles).

Why are we listening to analysts anyway? I have no problem with innovation. But don't leave abruptly out in the cold. For example I personal like the blu-ray players can play DVDs also. It just makes sense especially when blu-ray first came out. As I said before keep the 2015 MBP form factor (which is more than thin enough) and just add on the new I/O along side the old. Once the transition is made than get rid of the old I/O.

Look at the new Razer Blade Pro. It would be awesome if it was possible to make it into a Hackintosh.

Exactly. Although I'd take a 15" version. But their I/O make sense. It has both the "traditional" USB and the new TB/USB-C and also HDMI. Maybe Apple should take notes.

I'd go with this. The 14" model. http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-systems/razer-blade

too ugly and too impossible with the new structure...remember we have 2x alpine ridge for those 4xTB3
you need your mac+ OWC USB-c DOCK

I loved the OWC dock, except it's not TB3, it's USBC only. So it'll be limited to 60W of power (not enough for the 15") and the display to 4k@30Hz. I've also read that when using a 4K display, the USB ports are limited to 2.0 due to the limited bandwidth of USBC (10Gbps vs 40Gbps for TB3). Far too many compromises. Belkin is reportedly coming out with a TB3 dock that would have everything the OWC one does, without those limitations (also providing 85W of power to the laptop).

Magsafe was great, not sure that was wise.

The rest I am fine without had Apple included the adapters for USB 2/3 and HDMI. It would only be $3-5 in raw cost to them if that. Instead they'll be $40-50 each in AUD to the consumer. I remember the ipod including firewire and usb cables for iPod 4th gen.

The extension cord was also great for using the laptop plugged in and not getting zapped.

Making it thinner is fine but charging >$30 AUD for every little cable is excessive.

MagSafe / dedicated charging port, SD card slot, Headphone jack, 1 USB 3.0 & 2 USB C / Thunderbolt 3

Thanks a lot! I've been running in circles trying to any TB3 dock that has enough power to charge a 15" MBP. First one to do so will get my money!

Just wondering if the recently released USB-C dock is what they wound up coming out with instead of TB3.

No it's not. The USB-C dock came out a year ago. This one hasn't been released yet.

The picture in the OP looks great aesthetically and functionally, exactly what a pro machine looks like. It can take anything you throw at it.

And the jokes comparing wanting an SD card reader, HDMI, and USB to SCSI is ridiculous. The joke is your credibility after making that joke.

Speak for yourself. I don't want all that stuff I havent used in 10 years on my machine. You can literally buy plenty of all in one HUBs for $50 to get that. You'll have it for awhile. Buy once now and your set for the next 5-7 years.

Yeah, we now have 4 USB ports (when the most we've ever had on a MacBook were three on the last 17"). In addition those same ports are TB3 which is a huge convenience and allows us to mix and match our devices as we see fit.

Ironically, while this move limits our choices now, it'll put us in a better position then the last model in less then a years time.

No, that's precisely the point.

Now that USB C can become any port you need with the right adaptor, it seems superfluous to include any other legacy ports which are less versatile by nature. For instance, why include a USB port when you could have a USB C port that can become either a normal USB port when you need it or some other port as necessary?

It doesn't matter how often you use the port because a port that's indispensable to you might be useless to me and vice versa. USB C promises to end the age old debate of what ports to include in a computer, and how many of each exactly, once and for all.

Heck, if someone wants SCSI badly enough, I won't be surprised if we eventually see an adaptor for that.
