And the phone is still supported. You can still use all the apps and everything. As long as you are still getting security updates with is longer then OS updates you’ll be fine.
We have a very different idea about what "supported" means.
Nope, it is more abandoned than supported, in this case.

No you just feel entitled for 5 years of updates. Sometimes people don’t care or can’t afford an iPhone. Doesn’t make budget phones “bad”.

I was just saying in my experience in my part of the world it’s very clearly dominated by the iPhone. I don’t doubt if you add up all the devices across the entire world, more Android devices are likely used.

In NYC it’s still not dominated by iPhones... if your area is trending that way it’s the exception not the norm. Here it’s at best a generous 50-60% which is far from dominating. You’ll see about the same Samsung devices or name your budget phones mixed in with iPhones of various models tho most are iPhone X(s), XR, 8 (plus).

Apple are going to have to find a way to get those costs down though in future if they want OLED iPhones to appeal to the mass market. Right now their mid tier is thriving and their top tier devices are more niche. You’d think with their investment and infrastructure they would have found a way to produce a more LEAN manufacturing and supply chain process by now.

Samsung has been making OLED screens in mass scale for probably around a decade or close to it now. They are the only ones doing it on scale like that so far. OLED panels are just expensive still. Look at the TV market where they are still hanging around closer to $2,000 then $1,000 MSRP. By the time it comes down you’ll probably be seeing phones or tvs with micro LED.

That’s one city though, it could be you’re seeing the exception? I couldn’t tell you what the percentage is here countrywide or across continental Europe, but iPhones appear to me to be more popular. Androids are also popular, not suggesting they are not.

I’m hoping my next iPhone is an LCD so hopefully in 2-3 years MicroLED will be out. If Android release it first though, you can bet Apple will be 5 years behind so I’m not holding my breath. Whatever my options I won’t be paying £1k+ for a phone so i’ll happily buy an older device again to bridge the gap.

Many android phones can get up to 4-5 years updates also. They may get only 2 or 3 years of manufacturers OS updates but there is usually a further 2-3 years of security
patch updates following the final Os update.

Also, I’m not being argumentative but iPhones are not the luxury must have many mistake them for. Everybody who’s anybody owns an iPhone nowadays. Some past generation models are as cheap as chips. I live in a central urban area and there are enough addicts, down and outs sleeping rough who own iPhones as well as everyone else..enough to take the shine off there being any exclusivity in owning one. They’re kinda common tbf.

I love my max but in reality it’s not much or any better than the much cheaper iPhones that can be found in refurb/repair or 2nd hand phone outlets. They all pretty much function the same..regardless how cheap or expensive someone paid for it. Case in point, my cousin just picked up an iPhone 7 for £90.00 from a mobile repair shop and other than looking slightly dated it runs everything pretty much identically to my Xs max that I paid much, much more for..definitely got me 🤔 some.

While might be true Plenty of people buy those budget android devices. Perhaps more then people buy used iPhones. Plenty of people don’t care about iOS or android and just want a cheap phone in store at the moment. The store being the carrier of choice. Security updates is what matters the most not OS updates
