I've had this on my MacBook Pro for some time now. Even new MacBook Pro with M1 chip still had the problem. Found that moving messages between mailboxes worked some of the time, but since moving to Sonoma I hadn't seen the problem - until today. (Using gmail with Mac Mail client)

Had a message that I left in my Inbox - confirmation of shipment with images - that I had read successfully when I received it 3 days ago. Today it said there was no content, but the headers were still intact. Nothing in this forum worked, and the message disappeared after trying to move to iCloud mailbox then back to Inbox. Found it in Recovered Mail folder. Moved it back to my Inbox, and still no content.

Content shows up fine on iPhone Gmail client, and also on web Gmail. Used web Gmail to forward to myself, and now the content is all there. Whew!

Hope this gets fixed. It's a pain.
