This needs to go. What were they thinking?

What's the deal with this ugly black dialog bubble? The blue-ish one was perfect.

    The problems:

    - Everything is left justified
    - The tiny icon doesn't have enough space around it (it's too close to the edge and too close to the text)
    - The bubble is BLACK with a harsh white highlight on top of it (looks cheesy)
    - On a black background (like the battery background) it almost disappears because black on black looks bad (especially with the white reflection on top)
    - Slide to read the message looks tacky as well.

I wish that no bubble appeared on the lock screen and only showed up in list view (like when there's more than one message). That's a much more elegant design.

What do you guys think? It just doesn't match anything else the iPhone has.

I think it is MUCH nicer looking. I'm very picky about things like this. That navy blue looks dated. This looks classy.

But I do see your point about against the black background while charging. However, I'd hope the majority of time you're not looking at lock screen notifications while it's charging...

You can change this in the Notifications settings in Settings. If your annoying push notifications really suit your fancy, Apple isn't forcing you to use the better designed notification system.

Take notice to the "View in Lock Screen Option" as well as your ability to change the manner in which your notifications are received. I sold off my iPhone 4 to get the 4S, so this is from my iPad, but it's basically the same on the iPhone.

I think it's a vast improvement. It fits the aesthetic of the lock screen better, at least.

That's good and all, but the notifications still show up the same exact way on the lock screen.

As for fitting better on the lock screen... I disagree. The top and bottom of the lock screen aren't as bubbly and they don't have as harsh of a white highlight on top. The rest of the lock screen is more subtle.

I agree with those who said it looks nicer, my only gripe is that is could be a bit bigger but I'll get used to it!:D

The other not so cool thing about that bubble is that it doesn't really have an edge to it.

I mean... those things looked cool back in 2001, but not anymore.

You gotta be more subtle now-a-days with the UI art.

I doubt he's doing the UI design. Everything else in the OS looks really good to me. Everything has that nice Apple, clean look to it.

I just hate that fugly black bubble. It looks ridiculous.

Dated - that's exactly what it is. Strange to see it live on elsewhere though like iCloud and other aspects of iOS.

I like the look also. It seems it would be nice if you could edit all of the active notifications in one spot too, instead of in each app down the line.

Both exist. The left is when the notification first comes in. If you then hit the lock switch (or just let the display switch off) and turn it back on you will see it has moved to the position directly beneath the time/date (as illustrated in beta 1 screenshot).

Edit: Just read the article as I should have done before posting.. I'm sure both exist!
