My DS comes with 2 styluses and 1 stylus slot... :D

Jokes aside, how can they design something to use with a stylus and not giving it a slot??

I think you will be much happier with the iphone. ;)

I know the only problem is its camera. I want to able to take mid quality pictures and videos.

I saw pics from iPhone they are really low quality.

Have you looked at the 'photo of the day' thread? There's some good photo's on there.

I'm convinced the iPhone is much better than the i900.

I has a play with the i900 in a store today and let's just say when you pick up an iPhone, you instantly know how to work it. I call myself technically literate, but with the i900 I had to sit there and fiddle about. It was not very intuitive.

Perhaps once you learn the UI the i900 will be a better phone, but I prefer products where it's clear time and thought has been put into the interface and I see that in the iPhone.

If windows mobile is a really good OS, MS are shooting themselves in the foot by not making it obvious how to use it. That said, to be fair, it could be the skin that Samsung has put over it.

I do have an Ipod touch and have no plans getting a iphone
why?
because I want drag & drop no Itunes
Apple should seariously considerer having drag&drop through explorer an option for those that dont want to use itunes

Also 2 times in 2 weeks all my songs was deleted
Fortunaly i found out myself that songs never get deleted from ipod
what happens is the database file gets corrupted
the file is called ItunesDB and Apple should realy offer a easy way to backup this file, fortunaly i had backed up itunesDB using a tool called Totalcomander
my surprise when i restored ItunesDB file and got all my songs back
no need for Formating the device
In my opinion the Iphone/ipod touch is cool but is not perfect
yes its multitouch but its just like a baby trying to walk so can be buggy

I am considering getting something that can remplace Ipod touch
that has Stereo Bluetooth for my expensive Sony Bluetooth headphones
which i use and have a excelent sound considering bluetooth technology
I just hate headphones wires they break after like 3-4 months

So ok Iphone dont have bluetooth, dont have drag&drop and if is like ipod touch it can corrupt your ItunesDB file making your songs useless and you have to format unless you dont backup the "Cursed" itunes DB file
this Not happen with Drag&drop much better than using a program that takes time to start up, Drag&Drop is the future not itunes sorry...

When Apple build a drag&drop option into their ipod/iphones and goes stereo bluetooth then and only then i want to get a new Iphone/ipod

So , i looked at an alternative to iphone that have lot of space for music
and frankly there is not much

Being the trekkie that I am i enjoy having a touch Lcars PADD

and you know the closest you get to a real LcarsThemed PADD
Is actualy running a Pocket Pc on Windows mobile 5-6
I do know you can hack the iphone into it but this is better

Watch and enjoy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDANtGNJ31U

It might be the Samsung omnia i900 can run this program/skin
but i cant say for sure
i am almost sure the HTC touch 3G phone will run it

Now do you see that Windows Mobile phones is actualy the best LCARS touch simulator out there :)

Samsung Omni is a great choise it has 5 Megapixels camera
bluetooth, 8-16Gb for music and with Suport for bluetooth headphones
which are the future (Wireless headphones is something i wanted since early 90s but could not get then)

HTC diamond touch has a good interface and is neat but it just NOT look like a Lcars PADD , i might however check out the HTC diamond touch HD but as for now the only startrek-like devices that has suport for over 8Gb memory music and has bluetooth is Samsung Omnia, Iphone, and maybe "Sony Q1?"

I think i will go for either a Omnia, HTC touch HD or HTC Touch 3G this christmas

Now the good Iphone has is that is Realy solid buildt the material feels like Enterprise surfing through space with shell raised
omnia feels like a Cheap fisher-price toy plastic

However i prefer this plastic samsung toy just because of bluetooth, drag&drop music and can turn Windows mobile into a Startrek computer :)
and i developed a niche feeling for samsung, Am also sure if the Enterprise was created for real in this century they would
make the ship outside material and shield from apple and part of the inner Lcars Flat panels and isolinear chips from samsung :)

Besides i already have my Ipod touch which make a Great PADD in the dock speaker on my office desk
I just make sure to backup ItunesDB file everytime i transfer new songs :)

I just hope that Apple one day allow you do drag&drop, goes Stereo bluetooth and even include bluetooth earphones with the ipod/iphone
boost the audio quality to make it better and make some Decent Startrek programs because after all is no doubt STARTREK (and minority report)
has inspired Apple into creating iphone :D

Recently I was working at an electronics stores promoting those 3G broadband cards for a big carrier here in Portugal. And there was a girl, hired by the same company as me, who was promoting the HTC Diamond and the Samsung Omnia.

And I was shocked to see that she was actually instructed to diss on the iPhone as much as possible. In those phones are so good, why do they need to criticize the iPhone in order for them to make sales?

I don't understand, why do you need drag & drop? Also, I've had iPods for 5 years and I've never lost all my songs like you did.

Honestly I was considering an Omnia before I got an iPhone and I saw drag and drop as a big issue, I never liked itunes.

But now that I've actually been using iPhone + iTunes for a few weeks I actually prefer it, it's so easy to manage pod casts/app updates etc.

It sounds like you want the more complex option, just remember the Omnia has downsides too, notably the screen (lower resolution, lack of glare reduction). A number of UK carriers have actually stopped supplying it due to the number of problems customers were having.

I always try something before i dismiss or praise it
and i been using both drag&drop and itunes some times now
All my music is already Idtagged and sorted alphabeticly in folder
i use winamp as my mp3player on my pc

When i conect a Dap player that is Drag&drop it instantly dock and i can drag&drop all song very fast.
Sometimes i am in a very hurry but before going out i want to update some songs or albums then speed is vital

with drag&drop all is done very fast , conect, drag&drop songs disconect

Now the itunes with itunes i have to load up the program first
which take between 30-60 seconds on my Vista Pc
(and No i am not happy with vista i might go back to XP for games)

Ok so i Start itunes and take a cup of coffe while im waiting
i have set it to manual synch since i have 2 laptops and sometimes use the second laptop to synch and i cant autosynch with the second without risk it deleting all my song (that i did know so i never got songs deleted that way)

Lets say i want to Synch like 5 Albums all already IDtagged with Tag&rename
which i normaly do to make sure they work propertly on my other Dap players
So after waiting for Itunes to load i drag the songs into itunes and make sure
the order are correct sometimes is not and i have to change something in the Itunes Idtag

I then move the album one by one over to my Ipod touch

Already half the way of doing all this drag&drop would already have performed the task being itunes the one taking a bit longer time to do

But then i check my ipod and find out the order are still incorrect
some songs are numered incorrectly and i have to go back into itunes and re-tag the songs reason is Itunes has so many detailed Idtags so i have to almost everytime re-tag all my Songs in itunes again

To make an example
say i have :

Alanis morisette - Flavor of entanglement
and lets say i have 5 songs of that album (to make it shorter here)

in my computer they apear in order and idtagged to apear on all daps like this:

01 - Citizen of the planet
02 - Underneath
03- straitjacket
04- Versions of violence
05 - Not as we

well on itunes they get transfered to ipod as:

01- Citizen of the planet
03 - straitjacket
05 - Not as we
02 - Underneath
04 - Version of violence

To change this i have to go into itunes again
and i find something in the tag that was not nesesary to change
in other idtag program but that has to be re-tagged in itunes
so it apear in proper order

Ofcourse it would be great if Ipods had a ITUNES like program
that could re-tag my songs on the fly
but i havent found any other DAPS (mp3 players) have that either so far
that way i could re-tag the songs on the ipod without having to re-synch from itunes

AS you can see the process of transfering song is quite time-consuming
for me using itunes
and i would prefer drag&drop all the way

Since many songs exist (what a wonderful word) both on my Ipod as on other mp3 players using Itunes as the only Idtagger is not possible

all songs i tagged with Tag&rename which is a fast tagging software
but not so detailed as Itunes is

maybe a solution would be find a idtagging software that is more detailed
and one that itunes works with better
that might be a solution

Then, is the loosing the songs
3 times in 2 months (and the latest 2 in just 2 weeks)
i have lost all my songs on ipod

Itunes corrupted the ItunesDB file
Nobody warned me about this, APPLE says you have to format everything
when Ipod is not recognized in itunes and all songs is gone

This is far from correct
it might possible make the ipod problem more stable
but the solution is so simple as having a fresh backup of ItunesDB always
ready incase database goes corrupt

Again none of this happen with Drag&drop since you then just using the mp3 player as a hardisk somehow
softwares however is not perfect and things can go wrong

This is the reason i would like to use drag&drop on ipods
the day that happen and when apple improve the sound quality over players like Sony or Cowon then Ipod would be the King for me

However i have to praise the New Nano for being the first to let you store music videos by albums like a MTV-player

It is true everything has their downsides
it seem like companies willingly not make something perfect
because then somebody not see a need to buy a new products
You like never get Lot of storage, Cardslot, bluetooth, wifi, radio, good screen resolution, decent camera etc... all in one device

there is always something missing, why is that?
because corporations want to sell you and upgraded version
where they just put that in and make you buy the device all over again :)

Ipod miss the bluetooth stereo something very bad because i use it daily
and find it as natural as breathing, i simple hate headphones wires

Iphone also had their problems quite normal in a new device like this
this problem got solved and ofcourse the carriers didnt stop selling the iphone because it was so popular

Iphone is a very cool WOW device i have ipod touch here
and is similar to iphone just without the phone and i can say is wow

but as far Iphone concerned it has poor camera, no stereo bluetooth

Also am sitting here with Ipod touch and another Dap from samsung
I put volume all the way up loud i plug in the headphones
and the Ipod sound like the volume is cripled the Samsung DAP player
is almost double as high as ipod

Whats more with Bluetooth headphones (considered to have poorer sound quality than non-bluetooth headphones)

I find my Sony Bluetooth headphones have better quality sound on the samsung Mp3 player than using normal wired earphones on the Ipod touch

So as you can see the Iphone/ipods have some issues on their own
not drag&drop, poorer sound quality and no bluetooth

This is what Apple could improve

AS for ITUNES being better than drag&drop
maybe you get used to it if your only player is a ipod
or if all your players is ipods

but if you own different mp3 players then ITUNES is a problem
because you cant simple synch the songs you already idtagged for other mp3 player in itunes and expect them to apear in the correct order
something is so detailed in itunes so you have to id-tag them again
or the song will apear in wrong order on the ipod/iphone

Now, what Itunes does good is transfering videos
this is incredible fast and i do praise itunes for that

I never use Itunes to sort songs or as my mp3 player
is simple to much of a ressource hog to wait 20-30 seconds for a program to start when i can just have winamp etc... start in like 3-4 seconds

i would rather stay with drag&drop :D

Isn't this Apple's marketing strategy towards Microsoft?

That, at the end of the day, is what's it's all about.
It'll make no sense getting any device, that doesn't currently do what you primarily want it to.
In my opinion, currently, the iPhone is not a smartphone in the conventional sense - It's an ultra consumer phone, that does the majority of consumer things superbly, hence the general masses loving it, and the smartphone hardcore, dismissing it.

This is the single most accurate and intelligent comment I have ever read on this site!

Well done.
