I've been an Apple fan since the first iPhone in 2007..... but I never really had cared about having the latest/greatest products until I started participating in these forums.....

I started this year with an iPhone X, a 2013 Mac Pro, a 2013 MacBook Air i7, a series 3 Watch, and the original iPad Air (I think also from 2013).

This year I've bought a new iPhone XS Max.... iPad Pro 12.9".... the new MacMini with top specs.... the series 4 watch.... and just now a 13" MacBook Pro...... plus a bunch of accessories.

Looking back, I can't think of a single one of those that I really 'needed'...... so I guess that makes me an enthusiast.

Good for you, but I don't think the majority of this forum is condoning Apple's behavior/releases for this year. The 2018 iPad is a textbook exercise in compromise, the iPhone XS Max is overpriced, and the Mac Mini is at its best in base spec.

Surely you are an Apple enthusiast, though.

Hope you have fun! I personally like some of the recent releases (the only purchase I made was an i5/8/512 mini) but I feel some of the pricing has gotten a bit out of hand.

It costed you $10,000. But hopefully it didn't cost you your girlfriend/wife…..

Blaming a public forum for your own inability to control your need of having the newest toys from Apple whenever they're released. lol, good one.

...........or a self-serving financially irresponsible person........

It's all relative I guess. I have friends that do the same with Porsches and Ferraris so some tech toys are insignificant by comparison.

I gave her the series 4 watch and my old iPhone X that she loves so she doesn't care. And she will use the 13" MBP during the day while I'm at the office with my Mini.

i want to see some analytics on the income of Macrumors users. So many people on here dropping as much on a laptop as a lot of people can spend on a car. Not that there is anything wrong with that if you can afford it, but a lot of MR members must be hella rich right? Or very irresponsible.

Sounds like me. It has cost me this year for the following:

Apple Watch 4, Gold SS, with Mileanse. Apple Watch 4, Aluminum gold. 18 Macbook Pro, i9, 32gb, Vega 20, 2tb, Caldigit TS3+ dock, Space Grey Magic Keyboard and Trackpad. iPhone XS Max Gold 256gb (was going to be 512gb but backordered). Everything has AppleCare Plus. Yeah, pretty close to $10k here.....Ugh.

Do you need a mistress?

And I wish I had found these forums earlier as that would have saved me $7K.

I didn't bought anything this year besides the 2017 MacBook Pro TB which was on sale back in June.

I think this website saved me like $5000, because I decided to rather keep my lovely iPhone 6s / MBP 2015 / iPad Pro 9.7 than buy all of this overpriced new stuff, which seems to be full of issues (keyboard, T2, PWM, bending).

Thanks MR!

I wouldn't say that this website did it since I am new, but Apple made me spend $5k on a new laptop with the vega 20.

Let’s be clear. MR didn’t modify your purchasing behavior. You did, by having access to more reviews and information. You didn’t have to act on it.

I’ve had the same access, perhaps for a longer period of time, but haven’t felt the need to upgrade anything beyond my current 2010 iMac, iPad Air and iPhone 7.

But hopefully it didn't cost you your girlfriend/wife…..
The options for gender binary folks are girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband - regardless of the gender identity of the OP.

If you bring in non-binary gender identities, it gets complicated.

But, "significant other" covers most of the non-polyamorous space. ;)

Just did the Apple Watch 44 Stainless Steel. A tricked out Mac Mini is tempting but my 2012 is kicking along just fine. Another year or two to save for Mac Mini. Was tempted by the iPad pro but really no use case.. All good :) whew!

haha... I wish i bought everything i saw.

People spend more than that on Apple gear in the industry. A few maxed out iMac Pro's will easily set you back more than US$13,398,99
