There will be no iMac in October, I was hopeful but with no news now 2 days before the supposed release of ML I'm starting to believe the "desktop is dead" guys :(

We are approaching the end of the year.
since Tim promised an amazing 2012 year, and all the rumors point to :

1- new iPod
2) new iPhone
3) ipad mini
4) apple TV - also called the panel
5) imac
6) mac mini

I can t understand apple, are they waiting for the last 3 month of the year to shove all this products??? it does n';t make any sense!
are they planning to conduct a big media event every week? ?

Yes I agree it's strange, and I have even doubts about 3 of the products you list will come out...every time some apple dude opens their mouth "amazing products" always comes out - so could just as well be Cooks been affected with the same compulsive "apple tourettes disease".
Seriously though...times closing in on 2012 and so far we've gotten an iPad and some MacBooks. I don't say its bad products but from worlds most profitable company it seems like the least impressive year so far - at least for the consumers standpoint - or perhaps they plan on reinventing Christmas shopping as they reinvented the smartphone?

And those products have to be released by end of october for apple to get their piece of the christmas sales.

I can't imagine releasing all this in September / October. There must be something coming before end of august.

I'm ready, this will be my first iMac, but if there is no word by mid to end of August, I'm buying the 2011 model. To be honest, this is a home computer for me and my family. While I'd appreciate the long term affects of a spec bump, I can't wait forever. My Dell PC is heading south pretty quickly

I don't really want a retina display anyway (not yet, IF that is the snag right now) and USB 3? I don't really care about that either. So for me, it'll irritate me to buy a non Ivy-Bridge spec'd iMac, but oh well.

And really what are the chances of a body redesign anyway? I think if there were a redesign on tap, we'd have seen something by now.

Anyway, guess we'll see soon...or not.

LG has their Ivy Bridge units out the door. Come on Apple...

There was never going to be an iMac in October. You might be right about the desktop being dead, however. I postulated a couple of weeks ago that the iMac update would occur on 7/25, in 2013, or never. So far there hasn't even been a glimmer of evidence otherwise.

Seriously guys. Look at the archives of this site for the 2011, 2010, 2009 launches. There's basically nothing. A few wild conjectures that went completely wrong. Some supply issues. And then like a day notice. Since then Cook has said they're "doubling down on secrecy".

Now it's entirely impossible that we won't get our presents on July 25 or July 31 or whatever. But lack of news/new rumors is not an indication of anything at all, least of all that Apple is abandoning the desktop business.

As I always remind people in this forum, the desktop can't be dead, apple engineers use it themselves. Also iMac is the main trademark of apple, in orde to kill it , you have to do some big event and announce on some replacement or some note to the press. You don't kill the main apple line for 30 years by simply seize the production of it.

So what you are saying is that they have 2month more or less to release all of this?
If this is so, :
guys bring up the popcorn because this movie is going to be interesting....
I want to see this

( btw if they do it, this is by far the dumbest move ever by apple)

I don't have anything productive to add, I just need some release...

I last purchased a desktop in 2003. Since 2009 I've been living with my gf and using her 2006 iMac.

I've been waiting for Diablo 3 to release since ~2005.

I've been intending on buying a new iMac to play D3 on since ~2010.

I'm starting to realize that the problem isn't the developers or the manufacturers, it's me.

Fingers-crossed for tomorrow, the following Tuesday, the following Tuesday, the following Tuesday, the following Tuesday, the following Tuesday....

That's a shame, D3 isn't terribly demanding and runs like a champ on max settings on the 6970m 2011s. Civ V is in fact more demanding than D3.

I don't get the feeling it's gonna be released early next week. do you guys? and aside from gut feeling, there seem to be no leaks or solid rumors about a release. and if it doesn't come out next week, I doubt it would be released in the fall. probably a 2013 release.

Omg!!!!! apple have said it self the new imac is not going to be released 2013.. The 2012 is coming this year ... Pleeease stop giving other fake informasjon

The Cook's double down isn't actually working this good.
Yes,we don't know nothing but we don't even buy anything ,at least a lot of who is talkin here since February, but maybe this isn't so relevant for Apple.
The Apple i knew was different.

My money is on Wednesday! Hope that SSD is a standard config available for pick up at the apple store. sign me up for a high end 21.5 with a 128 or 256 ssd!

I went ahead and got the 2011 imac... the wait killed me, and I've only been waiting for 1 1/2 months. I don't know how some of you guys do it

It's rough! Ive been sharing a little AMD A8 3870K mini ITX build with my wife since selling my gaming pc a month ago. Learned that I really don't need "the most cutting edge" and that I can wait (although I nearly broke down and went MacBook Air last week).

I'm super excited to be back to OS X as its been a few years and I've "been a Mac user" since 2002. After jumping ship in 2010 in the never ending quest of "gaming performance", and wasting money on upgrades and time tinkering, i realized its time to come back to Mac! I have the money in the bank and it's just waiting!

Interesting news! Thanks 4 sharing. Could this mean an August update?

ugh, guess I spoke to soon. The report is just a rewritten article based on the analysis made by Ming-Chi Kuo. So we are still only have that as that as the only rumor with some substance.

As for the iMac, Kuo believes a refreshed model could debut close to the end of September but qualifies the statement by saying indicators from the supply chain point to a later release. Shipments of Apple's desktop products will dip in July due to inventory adjustments but are expected to dramatically rise in August as the new iMac starts shipping out from factories.

Kuo isn't clear on this or maybe it's just me not understanding. His claims basically cover from August to "a later release."

Yeah it seems a bit whimsical. If the imacs leaves the factories in August, why would there be an October release ?

In any way, since its apple I guess we should expect the latest day rumored...that usually is more accurate.
