I think more of a gap between the two 13" pro models is desirable - what extra are you really getting for your money going for the 28W model currently? Two ports and a bit more thermal headroom? For $300? Make the $1,799 model closer to the 16", even if the price goes up to $1,999 to cover adding a GPU and 512GB.

I assume they want to make room for the Air to get upgraded, but still stay under the MBP family. Let the Air move up to a last few gen quadcore CPU, but no dGPU. Similar to how Apple handled the iPad upgrade with an older, more powerful, but lower cost CPU, and kept it under the iPad Pro running the latest hardware. So the Air gets more powerful, but there still is a distinct jump to the Pro line.

I prefer Apple retaining the current 13.3" screen size of the MacBook Pro and instead of reducing the bezels to give it a larger screen, reduce the bezels to make the physical dimensions of the laptop smaller.

So Apple replaced the 15” with a 16” MBP.
Will they replace the 13” MBP with a 14” MBP in the same footprint?

There are no credible rumors about a 14" product.

Its ok, we already know the new keyboard will be shipped to the entire line up next year
About the panels...there is time...nobody needs or have to tell us now nothing...Apple like in 2012 will make the same treatment...they will not let the smaller one with bigger bezels and not treat it the same as the 16"
Poor management...they need to diff from the 13" Mba more...and i would not be surprised if they make it also the 14" a bit thicker for more battery, and slightly bigger fans

But we already know 13.3" will stay for 2020.

Kuo told us the sizes next year will be 13.3", 15.6" and 16". There is no 14".

I'm still trying to figure out where people are coming up with 14". It seems to be a romantic dream with no basis from reality.

So he predicted Apple would introduce the 16" alongside the 15" instead of discontinuing the 15". Must be credible then, because that's exactly what... oh, wait...

If you bothered to look carefully at the chart, Kuo is saying the 15" will return with scissor.

Kuo told us the sizes next year will be 13.3", 15.6" and 16". There is no 14".
Since Kuo already made a small mistake by placing the 15."6 (not even the right number since it was 15.4") into the 2020...he can miss that 13.3" and in reality to be 14"
So stop being so literally since in that table there is already an mistake

So you really think that Apple will have 3 Macbook pro ?? 13.3 15.6" and one 0.4" larger?
I think our believes are closer to reality than yours. KUO does makes mistakes...the past told us that..

Given his track record, he's certainly more credible than a random prediction about 14".

Yes, you're right. His typo means the entire table is wrong. How clever!

Seriously?

You're really trying to argue his 98% accuracy with a 14" prediction that originates from no where?

I haven't seen any credible rumors on 14". At least none credible enough to be mentioned by MacRumors. This is why I was asking where this rumor came from.

5G rumors? Yes. Mini-LED rumors? Yes.

Why is 14" the next logical step instead of refreshed 13"? The 16" chassis makes sense to house a power-hungry i9, discrete graphics, and good speakers. I don't see the same argument for 14".

Rumours don't have to be credible to be reported on here. The site originally started to just gather together all rumours about Apple stuff. There's also other places which have their own sources.

I've read a couple of rumours of a 14" screen over the last 12-18 months but I couldn't tell you where or when they were as there's so many rumours reported every week.

It would seem logical because they've managed to put a 16" screen in to the 15" body whilst only making it slightly larger. The 16" chassis seems to be almost the same size as the 15", so its not like they've had to make it larger to accommodate all the new gear. Some people thought the 16" would be a bigger machine alongside the 15" in order for it to be much more powerful but that's not happened.

I still don't see why people put so much stock in Kuo, he often gets stuff wrong and some of predictions are vague to the point of being not much use unless someone else chimes in with another rumour which will often put some context around it.

Apple might take the same ideas to the 13", they might not. But I could see them doing it as it would keep the proportions the same if nothing else and they do like to do things like that. Will the new keyboard necessitate a slightly re-designed chassis in which case they might do the screen too?

That’s a really long way of saying the 14” rumor is not credible. You can’t even remember where you read it from. It’s what I was asking in the first place.

You claim to have read the 14” rumor in the past 12-18 months. Kuo was the first to tell us about the 16-inch. That was February 2019.

All I was doing was posting my thoughts on a 14" MBP, I'm not sure why you're so obsessed with what Kuo reports?

Why would they introduce a 15.6" at this point? I believe he thought the 15" MacBook Pro would be staying on another year - that is what the 15.6 is in 2020 on that chart.

My prediction is Apple will follow suit with a 14" resdesign with slimmer bezels in 2020. It just makes sense in relation to the brand new 16" inch design. They did this when they introduced the Retina MacBook Pro.

They will keep the MacBook Air at 13.3" and redesign that probably in 2021.

So you will have the lineup look like this in 2020.

13.3" Macbook Air
14" Macbook Pro
16" Macbook Pro

I would jump at a 14” in the 13” footprint. Ready to upgrade from my 2009 15” MBP. It is a great machine but ready for something new.

I think that Apple will bring in the 14” with the 10th generation Intel mobile CPU called Ice Lake! It been out for around a 9 month now but Apple usually wait 18-24 month after a new CPU is release to release a new MacBook with a new mobile CPU. Apple wants to get the “best price”! LOL! I think Apple will be release a new 14” MBP around this time next year!
