Thoughts on the iPad 1 vs iPad 2 Design

So, what iPad design (structurally only, and ignore the weight) do you prefer?

I prefer the iPad 2 design over the first iPad. The thickness of the first model just seems to add a lot of age to the product. As for the iPhone's design, I love my iPhone 4 design. The materials used feel very high-quality. I bought the 2G on its launch day as well, so I've used them all, but I prefer the 4. My least favorite was the iPhone 3G design. I didn't like the plastic and how it would eventually crack.

Looks only, iPad 1 all the way. If I could get iPad2 internals into iPad1 I would :D. "It just feels right!"

I second this. Also, a bigger battery wouldn't hurt, given it's greater thickness. Maybe a tad lighter, but I think the iPad 1 has a great weight to it.

The side wall on the first gen ipad looks bad now i am used to the ipad 2. I just think it is an all round improvement. Just my oppinion.

The reason I like the iPad 2 better...

...is that it has a flat back. this curved back of the iPad 1 is just a pain if you would use it without a protector. This design change on the iPad 2 having a flat back (and the lighter weight), outweigh the downsides such as the rear speaker (not side) and the connector on the slope which makes it more difficult to plug it in.

So, my hopes on the iPad 3:

- flat back
- true side (not sloped)
- stereo speakers - 3 in total: one on each side of the home button and one on the upper left corner so that you have stereo sound in upright and letter format switching with screen alignment
- native smart cover with optional full-body sleeve
- accepting USB stick on the camera connector

I know, most likely, none of them will come, but hope dies last.

Cheers
