I read that most of Apple Airport engineers went to work for Ubiquiti… what that could do is by the company because the AP are amazing!

I’m down for a new mesh AirPort Extreme with built in home kit hub. The airport is still the best router I’ve ever owned.

I would like a 12” MB, my M1 MBA is nice, but it’s only used as a couch/bed surfer and travel laptop.
MacBook Air should come with full port selection and 12.9" and 14.2" models. The smaller could be your travel model. MBP should differentiate with additional USB4 ports, a fan, better thermals, a much faster processor, a higher quality screen, larger possible RAM and SSD and a 16.2" variant. Both should have equally good cameras and mics. While I'm dreaming MBA should be wedge shaped. I've tried the new MBA and greatly preference the wedge shape and its tapering down toward the user. And give all Apple charges dual ports.

Next.

Home Pod - Sounds good. Would be really nice if it could double as an external speaker for my Mac.

12 MacBook - Why? Two 13" models were just released. Doesn't make sense to have a 12" model.

iMac Pro - Again, why? It didn't really make sense the first time around. Pro users want a solid machine that is flexible and expandable. However, I would like to see a return of the 27" iMac with some decent future proof specs for under $2500.

How many different versions of the Mac do they need to cover the market?

At least 8 more.

No, I get it, and remember the beginning of the end of the pre-steve return Apple Computer. They had so many different model numbers, and many of them were just for subtle differences like storage size and added options, and processor speed. (BTO is likely helping Apple contain any warehouse headwinds, but I wonder how effective it is) I worked at a Circuit City, and they seemed to be all about filling their warehouses with the different machines. Instead, CC decided not to carry, in stock, any of them. We had a couple systems on display, but you had to 'order' one to get one largely. At one point there were something like 6 different iPhone SKUs. Yikes... And with the iPhone Mini, standard and Max, that's a lot of warehouse filler...

The MBA already has a good price point so a 12" machine would have to be considerably less to justify it. If they price it the same do you really want to pay that money for a machine that's only an inch smaller?
Maybe this would be the machine to replace the M1 MBA (once stock is depleted) at the $999 price point. Eventually, this machine would see consistency discounts to $949 and even $899. That’d be a darn good deal for a machine like that.

I still have two macbook 12 2017 holding strong!
Actually I had three until a few weeks ago, just sold one.

All the heavy load goes on my desktop M1 machine, for travel though the 12 is unbeatable. That in combination with an iPad and sidecar makes the best travel combination I have had in my entire life.

An M macbook 12 would be extremely welcome

A 12'' MacBook wouldn't makes sense IMO. It's too small and lacks the power for any graphical work and we have iPdas for portability. As Apple tries to sell larger screens in a smaller footprint I think we would rather have a 17 inch laptop instead of a 12 or 11 inch one.

Form me the Home Pod is just too expensive for what it is: a wireless speaker. I would rather add 2-300$ to its price and buy a pair of nice stereo speakers to add to my audio system. For the casual background noise at home I already have cheap portable wireless speakers.

I think the Mac Studio replaced the iMac Pro. Apple even addressed user complaints about modularity on it launch. In this case modularity meant expandability (port wise) and the fact that users were stuck with its display - being an AIO -, not in the sense of it being upgradable internally. A lot of pleaple said that it was a powerful machine, but didn't like the fact that they were tied to that display. The iMac Pro was a temporary solution anyway until the Mac Pro came out.
The beauty is that is small enough to fit in any A4 or letter sized trays (for instance airplane or train) where the 13 will not fit. And if you need more screen real estate you just add an iPad. the combined weight of the 12 plus an ipad air is less than a macbook pro ;)

With the benefit of now having the choice to use an ipad when you do not need the laptop.

Unbeatable

I would really love a HomePod with a proper display on the front. I have 2 Google Home Hubs in my house - but it would be great if Apple had a competitor there to tie in to the rest of the Apple ecosystem.

The problem with those larger speakers is that when you crank them up, they will bleed into other apartment units next to me. I ended up donating them to a friend that just got a house. I really enjoyed the sound but now I just use headphones until I have a house with some land around it.

I thought it might be, but then I see a lot of people clamoring for am iMac Pro return.
Maybe it is the colorway and smaller screen? My only real issues with the iMac are that I loathe white bezels and the color options are not to my particular taste. I also feel like I would end up with less e-waste w/ a separate monitor that will likely outlast my computer internals through at least 2 replacement cycles.
It depends on the workflow for sure but I adore my iMac in blue, and I’m coming from a 39’ ultrawide curved screen. I love the minimalistic design, the screen, and I don‘t see the white bezels while I’m working.

They should make the 12" macbook with an A processor. We don't need virtualisation on such a device and the speed / power envelope would be ideal

Now we've seen the MacBook Air, I wonder just how small they could get package around an Apple Silicon SOC whilst maintaining good battery life and performance.

As for the HomePod, I'd love to see them embracing Dolby Atmos with a centre speaker and the ability to use HomePods/Minis for the others to get true surround sound.

I would like to see the 8 plus make a comeback just so we have a big screen with Touch ID and with a display that doesn’t cause headaches.

Agreed. The HomePod was a poor move on multiple fronts. Price definitely (it needed to be closer to the Sonos pricing $199-$249 would have been good) and they needed the mini, which could compete in the lower end Echo market.
Sonos really ate Apple's lunch on that one. Their newest portable is pulling people away from UE Booms.

Homepod? Why? It's not a very smart speaker with almost useless Siri and it was so crazy expensive when it launched. Yeah, it sounded good but there are competitors that all offer a high end product with great sound and Google Assistant or Alexa baked in.

The HomePod failed in the market because of poor positioning: it’s all about price.

In the case of the original Homepod, it was all about a device that the competition blew out of the water with features... namely personal assistant features. "Improvements" were always on the horizon, but never materialized. It's a speaker, and always was, despite the promises. Alexa is the personal assistant gold standard. If Apple had cared to pair their music endeavor with true personal assistant capabilities, this would have been a different story.
