Prior to the launch of Apple Fitness+, Apple introduced a promotion that's meant to give all customers who purchased an Apple Watch Series 6, SE, or Series 3 a free three month free trial of Fitness+.

While that free three month trial is meant to activate automatically and be available when first signing up for Fitness+, it appears that the extended trial is not working for some people.

Based on complaints on the MacRumors forums, some customers who purchased a new Apple Watch in September are not seeing their extended trial as an available option. We can confirm that one MacRumors staff member is also not being presented with the three month trial even though he purchased a Series 6 following the new Apple Watch's September launch.

Customers who are affected are instead being offered a standard one month free trial instead of the full three month offering promised.

To get the free three month trial option, make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID on all of your devices. If the trial offer is not popping up, we recommend contacting Apple Support for further assistance as there appears to be no other solution at this time.

I have 14.3 but can’t find where fitness+ is. I open the fitness app and it’s not showing anything!

Its amazing they can't get this crap to work on the first try.

I was supposed to get AppleTV+ with my MBP16.... but no matter what it wouldn't offer it. After several hours on the phone Apple gave up and shipped me a free AppleTV to put another eligible purchase in the system. A year later, apparently they still get get free trials tied to hardware purchases working.

FWIW, I tried signing up via Apple TV but the same offer kept appearing.

Not that it would have made any difference. Advancing beyond that screen, I was told Apple Fitness+ content is not available at this time. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Once I updated AppleTV, the 3 month option appeared when I opened the app.

It looks like this is down to the age-old problem of having two Apple IDs.

Apple Fitness+ latches on to the Apple ID you use for iTunes and App Store purchases (if you open Fitness+ and tap your account on the top right, it will bring up your Media/Purchases Apple ID). However, it looks like the Fitness+ three month trial offer gets allocated to the iCloud account you're logged into on your Apple Watch. In my iPhone Settings app, if I log out of my old Gmail account under "Media and Purchases" and log in to my iCloud account, the three month trial appears in Fitness+.

This is no use, though, as the three month trial needs to be allocated to the account you use for Media and Purchases, not your iCloud account, otherwise you'll have to ditch all your apps and music just to make use of the three month trial.

I’m waiting for my 6 month trial code from BestBuy, which is one of the reasons I purchased the Series 6 from them.

Has anyone received their email with the code, or are you waiting too?

Its ridiculous that after 10 years they've provided no way to merge accounts.

When I bought my MacBook Air M1, i used AppleCard financing, which forced me to go through the store using my iCloud account which was tied to my AppleCard, vs all my other past purchases via my iTunes/AppStore Apple ID....

Things like this, dragging on for years with no resolution just really piss me off.

Guys & Girls... You are not alone.. this is an active issue for Apple... 3 months subscription and the inability to install the Fitness+ app on an iPad...

Patience.. they are aware and a fix is being worked upon as I type this...

Oh, it has nothing to do with having two Apple ID's as previously mentioned. You just need to ensure the Watch and iPhone have the same ID's setup. Fake news!!

no. It’s not a multiple Apple ID issue. Not at all.

Good catch. I can confirm this is what is going on.

I hate when fitness ads show people working out all happily smiling as if there was no effort (*)... I usually look like as the grinch while I am working out.

Not totally accurate.. as long as Apple Id's match on the two devices.. not an issue having two

All I can say to fellow people who can't activate the three month trial by qualify - Apple will need proof of purchase of the Apple Watch if you decide to call Apple Support. This has been a lot more difficult for me for being with EE which still lists my series 4 watch on my series 6 contract. Never received any emails about the contract either or anything to do with the order - just text messages.

Lol! Don't quit for the love of God! I mean, obviously trainers are all going to be fit and all, but at least don't make it look like it's effortless!

Will likely ring apple tomorrow as not much can do at the moment...looks bad on apple though
