I just order a 16" with the m1 max and 64gb ram over the weekend and the delivery date is end of march.
Nope. A hub slows it down to 1 PCIe lane for the device. That’s 750 MB/s.Yeah, or you could get a hub to add more ports!
So how is it possible that I get 2.5Gb/s on a thunderbolt 4 hub for my Samsung X5 TB3 SSD?Nope. A hub slows it down to 1 PCIe lane for the device. That’s 750 MB/s.
Because it isn't using PCIe lanes most likely. So how is it possible that I get 2.5Gb/s on a thunderbolt 4 hub for my Samsung X5 TB3 SSD?
It is being reported as PCIe!Because it isn't using PCIe lanes most likely.
What do you expect if Luke Miani bought most of them? I was watching a YouTubers review of the iMac M1, the guy has ever model of Apple Silicon Mac and I wonder why?
Truth is stranger than fiction. Have you never told a true story of something that's happened in your life, and it's such a fantastic story that people are looking at you like they think you're lying?
Besides, probability theory dictates. As an example, let's say that the odds of needing a replacement is 1 in 1,000. Then the odds of needing 4 replacements in a row is 1 in 1,000,000,000,000. Extremely low odds, but it is definitely a possible permutation. The odds of winning lotto is similarly insanely low, but hey, we know that people do win the lotto.
Without having your device and hub here to test I can't tell you why it is or isn't performing as expected. I have tested TB3 CF Express card readers and my SSD's and the manufacturers have done the same and came to the same results. It is being reported as PCIe!
It's such a terrible feature. Notifications on any platform are cancer. Every app is like a toddler, interrupting as often as possible whenever they want with no regard to anyone's needs but their own. I don't understand how so many people just accept them.I don’t see a lot of notifications from Mac apps, but I use a Mac at work and others use Windows. So often when I’m sitting next to someone with a Windows laptop in Conference room or at their desk, there is a steady stream of notifications for every email, slack message or any other event popping up on the bottom right of their screens. It drives me crazy just seeing it that small amount of time, let alone all day long. I try to suggest that they turn some of those notices off, though a surprising number don’t see it as a problem.
So instead of telling us how 'terrible' these notifications are, just turn them off! That way you are happy and we are happy not to listen to your rants! It's such a terrible feature. I'm doubting it will actually be that long. Plus, the amount of money Apple is offering on my MBA trade-in makes this a great deal and I am more than willing to wait on this.I have never waited this long for a product. I fear, I will cancel mid way of waiting and buy a windows laptop. I hope you have more patience.
PC manufacturers are also having trouble shipping product. I was recently looking at a replacement Windows laptop for my parents (don't ask) and many of the models were currently unavailable.Weird…”not meeting demand” seems to imply plenty of demand, no? There are plenty of computers out there to buy….
They could have put a multi-card reader in. But no, they stuck with the older, slower, SD card, and the older, slower HDMI. It's like a petulant child "Oh, you want ports do you, well here are your silly ports then, bllllssssttt".
You hit the nail on the head. Good bye Johnny.Imagine making laptops consumers actually want versus some designer's vanity project...
I’m a notch hater. My new M1 pro 16 screen is fine though. I always use dark backgrounds anyway. It’s a great screen with plenty of real estate. I say to other notch haters, just get the machine. It’s amazing. Don’t miss out.I honestly don't understand how people care about that notch so much, to the point where it "drives them nuts".
It's really just more screen real estate than you would otherwise have, that's all. What's not to love about that?
I've had my 16-inch M1 Max since November and don't notice the notch as a negative thing at all.
I'd love to turn them off entirely, as-is I have to employ a workaround of scheduling them so they're only on one minute during the day. Apple forbids turning them off entirely. So instead of telling us how 'terrible' these notifications are, just turn them off! That way you are happy and we are happy not to listen to your rants!
