Kinda Par for the course, a 15” MBA that just would be larger size compared to the 13.6” MBA. Almost want to say the odds are lowest for this to show, because some want it to be M3 based.

Next is whether a M2 Max/Ultra Mac Studio shows up to establish the won’t be a one time place holder while waiting for Mac Pro, odds are better this might happen.

Highest chance of showing up is the AS based Mac Pro. This smaller tower model could impact Mac designs for years, and Apple is dying to show it off, so that AS platform is now across their model lines. Could happen anytime in April through WWDC 2023. Whenever it does news about will be widely discusse.

See now....there's NO evidence of a Mac Studio...but MacRumors HAD to throw that in there and lure me into the forum just to say 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻. As a lingering Intel Mac user stuck in that zone between an M2 Mini Pro...waiting on an M2 Studio (b/c I can't justify the M1 with an M3 in production)...I'm in limbo & my machine is slowwwww.

I like the form factor on that Mac Studio, so hope it's not a stop-gap!

I strongly feel that WWDC should focus on Pro products and in-development products.

  • Mac Pro
  • MacBook Pro, not Air
  • Mac Studio
The AR/VR headset should be announced to developers only, with a "Development Kit" much like was done for the initial Apple Silicon release. This would get the product into the hands of a wide range of people without being released prematurely as a "final" product, giving Apple more time to finish what their long-term plans entail.

Apple really needs to bring back grid computing (formally known as Xgrid). With fast networking, efficient protocols, and a broad distribution of Apple products, it's the perfect time. Achieve immense computing power on local networks without having to sell "more powerful" versions of products. Imagine being able to double the processing power of your Mac mini by adding a second one to your network? Turn it on and suddenly you have access to its processing power over the network transparently, with your iPads and iPhones also contributing their processing power. That's where Apple should be! Talk about blowing the competition away!

June 5, baby! Here we come!

I need to buy a new iMac this year, but the models are 2020 M1. I would have thought an M2 iMac would be out by now.
It has been all but cemented there will me no M2 iMac because it’s going straight to M3. And I strongly suspect we’ll see it released before the end of the year.

And thats what I’m waiting for.

If I didn’t buy an iMac I’d definitely buy a Mac Studio Max.

My guess:
Mac Pro needs M3, and will be introduced but not be available until the fall.
It needs to leapfrog everything on M2, but still be one package.

I love my Mac Studio, but the sales numbers for it are supposedly very very bad and I see the Mac Pro doing even worse. So since all four desktop Macs, the mini, the Studio, the iMac, and the Mac Pro are very low-volume machines, perhaps just make one machine that can be configured to different demographics instead of so many separate low-selling machines. Focus resources on just one great desktop Mac instead of being all over the place and not making money on any of them.

I'm still curious about the Apple Silicon Mac Pro. If it can't be upgraded, what's the point? There won't be any graphics cards supported. Only Apple graphics are supported. As for the card slots, what else would be available? Doesn't seem like there is anything else supported at this point. It'll be a big empty box. It will be interesting to see what they do moving forward.

Let's assume, if it's powerful enough - I mean really, truly powerful - then there's no need for most folks to roll up their sleeves, right? I have a feeling Tim Cook's yacht fund is gonna see an unprecedented growth spurt.

Oh, by the way, I actually think power consumption is pretty important now. Even though some people might think it's not necessary to talk about power consumption with desktop, just think about it: if your PSU panel at your feet is always showing usage rates of over 300 watts or even higher, your monthly electric bill might remind you to cut back on a few Starbucks.

If the rumors about the Mac Pro are true, I don't think there's any way we see both a Mac Pro and a Mac Studio. I think the Mac Studio will either be revealed to have been a stop-gap product or it will be updated once the Mac Pro has been significantly differentiated from it.
If Apple cannot differentiate the Mac Pro from the Mac Studio, that is not an indictment of the Mac Studio, it would point out a Mac Pro emperor with no clothes. I hope that they manage to take the Mac Pro far enough to justify someone getting it. That may require that they do some things that don’t color within the lines laid out by other Apple Silicon SOCs. They need to break out of the mold.

I used to wonder if the Mac Studio would be like the G4 Cube, meaning once the Mac Pro gets updated, it'll bow out gracefully. But looking at the current status of the Mac Pro's "pro-level" price point, perhaps the Mac Studio will still keep up with the times.

"A built-in battery was too heavy, so Apple has designed a hip-worn battery that will power the headset for approximately two hours before it needs to be recharged."

This sounds so dorky and unwieldy that this rumour can't possibly be true, right? Two hours battery life from an external battery pack? That might make for a good early prototype, but Apple couldn't possibly be considering a public release of a device with such limitations.

Who cares if the port is under the mouse. I charge my mouse overnight or when I go out.

Perhaps Apple made the port this way to prevent people from keeping the cord plugged-in...a wired mouse

Exactly. People don't seem to understand that the port was designed that way for a reason. You know that Grandpa would leave his cordless mouse plugged in permanently if the design let him! It's for sure a Jony Ive signature move, though. Today's Apple probably wouldn't design it that way.
