I still believe that if there was one computer to talk in depth about would be the 2023 Mac Pro because of the new hardware design for AS platform as a modular/expandable example. Those Compute modules (SoC on cards) way of its architecture along with adding storage beyond the SoC based unified memory architecture should prove enlightening.
Certainly the Mac Pro will be an important announcement and Apple would want to highlight all the reasons why it is different than other Macs. Apple may decide to throw in a larger Air as an aside in their announcements while they have the audience but I would not expect an extensive presentation. If they do updated the chips in the Studio, that is more likely to be a press release.

Sadly, the iMac is the new Mac Mini with regards to Apple's attention and frequency of updates.
I have a theory that they’ve been holding some hardware back so just in case the AR/VR goggles, the Mac Pro, or both arent ready they have things to fill up their announcements at WWDC

At best the AR headset would be just a sideshow about PTK available for AR oriented devs, its can't be a real product this early to discuss at length, because it shows consumers there is no online media to crow about.

As I said earlier in the thread I’m fairly certain it’s either more finished than we think or it’s purely targeted as a dev kit a la the A12z mac minis when AS macs were announced

I really hope that the arcs logo is alluding to AR/VR with >180 degrees field of view through some optical magic.

What if we get a re-design Magic Mouse?

Beyond the headset, I’m told that multiple new Macs are in the works for launch around the middle of the year. The lineup could include fresh MacBook Air models and a Mac Pro with in-house Apple chips. The latest iOS and macOS beta versions will build in support for the new machines. We’ll also get a look at iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, tvOS 17 and macOS 14.

Apple very rarely unveil products at WWDC, it’s a developer conference and focus on software
But they do, more often than not.

Actually, the one thing I think they need to focus, is Siri. It came out 11 years ago! And with all the AI available today, Siri really looks that old, useless and outdated. That’s a race Apple is losing fast. Betting on AR instead is a big mistake.

AR is a major step up with interactive programs information across the web or cloud. Siri is just a rudimentary limited response method of voice control or request links or answers to some things. All the other AI is far from real AI. In fact it’s more a concern of data mining, user profile generation and privacy concern. I tend to view it as 2.0 version of cookies and cache by multiple online business‘s that want to use you for making money not your protection.

Excited to see the new Apple Silicon Mac Pro.
Per MacWorld
So there’s a window of about five weeks between now and mid-May where we could see the Mac Pro. If not, there aren’t many opportunities throughout the rest of the year when it makes sense unless Apple pulls off a weird July launch or doubles up at WWDC and risks overshadowing its next big thing.
Here’s what Apple has booked for 2023 so far:

  • June: AR headset
  • September: iPhone 15, Apple Watch
  • October: M3 chip?
The latest rumors say Apple will use the second fall event to showcase the new M3 chip.

Interesting enough just as we has a 18 month period between M1 and M2 , October 2023 would be fairly close at 16 months.

If the Mac Pro is just a Mac Studio in a big empty case, then they might want to just release it with a press release prior to WWDC, but if it actually takes Apple Silicon in a new direction and has features not shared by other AS models, then I would expect them to want to talk about it at WWDC.

I’ve heard a number of people complain about this very issue. So it’s certainly a widespread issue. How widespread? @Ethosik (the gent I replied to) said that he tried multiple Studios all with the same issue.

Now, it sounds like some units don’t have this issue (yours). It’s great that at least some of the units don’t exhibit this issue. So that we make sure we’re on the same page, are we talking about the same fan whistle? Some people genuinely aren’t bothered by high pitched fans. Let me try to find a YouTube video.

Edit- Here you go:
I had my Mac Studio Max for more than half year yet never heard that harsh sound (not any sound actually).
Now here my room is dead quite at 5:15 AM, I headed over to Studio and heard nothing.
