I thought I saw them attach it to the top during the demo?Only one side.
Pretty sure the pencil has to be paired to see the firmware. When paired, the info shows up in Settings>General>About>Apple PencilIs there any way to check the pencil in settings to see what firmware it has? I picked one up yesterday, but iPad doesn’t arrive until today sometime. Just curious.

How else do you expect Cook and the boyz to retire with their options in the money?$129, another %30 price increase
[doublepost=1541692672][/doublepost]Does anyone know if the extra tips that came with the original pencil work on the new one?
Good. It was quite fast already. Then perhaps they don't think the battery life need to be good because it can always be charged quickly. I still find it disappointing though.Charging is definitely faster.
No extra tip. Just how stingy can Tim get.
They look identical though I haven't tested it. I bought extra tips for my first pencil that I never even used. If someone is wearing theirs down, they do some serious drawing, daily, all day long because I never had to replace mine in two years of what I would say is normal use.
do you actually always do that? I don't think I will have the discipline or will find it convenient.Regarding battery duration, it is reported that the battery is smaller (its lighter too) but I draw last night for hours and never lost battery. I think that because when you put down the pencil, you are attaching it to the charger so its always adding power when not in your hand. I really don't think that this is going to be a problem for most people.

Is it finally possible to turn off the Pencil? The first version goes in standby mode automatically when not used and wake up as soon as a vibration is detected. This potentially drains the battery quickly.
How is it not convenient to just place it in the magnetic spot. It snaps right into place.I've had to replace the tip on one of my two Pencils once but I do use it a LOT (for writing, not drawing).

The battery life is far less than the original. Example: from 100% to 96% in around 3 minutes - just taking a couple of quick notes. Same test with original pencil and the battery doesn’t drop at all. Disappointing.
I didn’t necessarily say I do. But again, why would it use a completely different wireless charging method than other Apple devices?
Knowing this kinda glad i did not purchase the new pencil and chose to use my old one.The battery life is far less than the original. Steve Jobs comes back to life and finds Apple is making a Pencil – what is his reaction? Aaaaand go...
Huh? The new Pencil doesn’t work with old iPads and the old Pencil doesn’t work with new ones.Knowing this kinda glad i did not purchase the new pencil and chose to use my old one.
So you're thinking that Tim Cook was sitting at his desk thinking how he can boost net income beyond the current 80 billion a year, and his solution was to remove a 25 cent piece of plastic from a product that makes up .001% of Apple's revenue? Yeah that's probably it.
