I've ordered a space grey base model M2 air and have to wait until August 23rd for it. Had I ordered a week ago I could have collected it the next day. It's almost as if Apple didn't realise people were going to want to buy them! I guess there must be a genuine reason but, even so, I didn't think I'd have to wait this long. Luckily I'm in no real hurry for one. I'm in the UK, by the way.

That's not too bad consider the lead times for the Mac Studio. If I were to order the base Ultra today I wouldn't be able to pick it up until the last week of September. Interestingly the Max is available for pickup today.

So does apple still stock a high-end model in retail stores? I’m looking for a 16 or 24 GB RAM model for a friend. There’s a couple local stores with the 512 GB option, but only with 8GB RAM. Anyone know the high-end config?

The stores don't stock 24GB RAM models. You might get lucky with a 16GB RAM model. Check just before 8am EST every morning.

On release day they had the 10 core GPU, 16GB, 1TB model in stock. I also saw others posting about this configuration being in stock. In fact that’s how I knew to check for it.

Yea, I got that model on launch day and recently returned it for the 2TB model. Ever since launch day, the closest store that has the 1TB model is a 5 hour drive. lol I will gladly keep waiting versus making a long road trip.

I’ve seen the 16/1TB in stores. The 24GB is too niche.

Yep, I found the only one in the Pacific NW. Now my friend will have to decide if it’s worth 500 bucks to go from m1 to m2, or to just get a 14 inch MacBook Pro. Thanks everyone

No, it's almost as if we're in the worst supply shortage for electronics in multiple decades, and the M2 Air is one of the hottest selling machines a the moment.

I got quoted a 550 day lead time for some Cisco network equipment recently. 3 weeks is nothing.

and buying many new vehicles, even non-EV, you’re often looking at 6+ months with the added privilege of paying over MSRP.

Current SUV lease ends February 2023. I already put a deposit for my next SUV lease. Should arrive to dealer January-February. Ridiculous prices. Huge waiting time.

People are waiting over one year for ford Mach E, Maveric, and Bronco it’s like ford didn’t know people would buy them:rolleyes: they aren’t even letting people order them until 2023.

We leased a Prius well equipped for $300/month in the early days of the pandemic. Didn’t have a car before and with the novelty of Covid were nervous continuing to use public transit.

the lease will be up next year. We have since enjoyed the convenience of having a car, even though we only drive it <2,500 miles a year. If current trends hold, we probably will be able to buy the vehicle for $5k less than what it’s worth.

I am in the second month of what could be an 18 month wait for a Toyota Supra GR. Supply issues are a real thing and you had at least two weeks notice before the M2 Mac was orderable, with tons of posts warning about this exact issue..

what i've been doing while waiting my 3 weeks for my M2 air:

i learned klingon. lost 50 pounds (then gained it back). read several 'paper' books (once i figured out how to operate them).

am learning advanced physics. raising deer. operated on (& saved) a wounded sparrow. & figured out why people exist (at least, on the macrumors forums)...

Wow, 18 months would be extreme!
