I did that last year. Ended up buying an iPod Nano because I couldn't go a month without some sort of iPod.
Did you unlock your iPhone first? I'd like to sell mine soon but my baseband is upgraded so AFAIK it's currently impossible to unlock![]()
I wonder why all the complaints always come from Americans. Is the iphone the only phone on AT&T? Is is the only one on AT&T dropping calls. You never hear complaints from other iphone users in other countries.

wow, just wait and buy the new iphone.
Yes, you do. I am on Rogers and there have been MULTIPLE occasions where my iPhone didn't ring but someone had called (I'd get the text saying I missed the call, but nothing in the phone).
Sometimes my calls drop in places with complete signal strength.
I like the phone so I'm willing to put up with it. As well, I don't get too many calls and none are super important so it's not a huge issue. If I needed to use my phone constantly the iPhone would be at the bottom of the list unfortunately.
When this happens it is most likely your iPhone was using data and couldn't get 3G so it used EDGE. You can recieve a call and use EDGE at the same time.Yes, you do. Good advice. He's unhappy with the device and customer service so he should just go out and give them even more of his money..
The OP said the same thing happens in multiple markets. If I remember correctly, people have iPhones in New York, Chicago, and Dallas without issues like these (including myself, and millions of other customers). Is it still the network?
I am not sure why people try to make this issue one or the other.
The answer is BOTH.
A lot of iPhones out there on the street have a VERY hard time managing the network it is connected to. I know mine does at times in certain spots.
I can be standing there and it will go from 3G to NO ICON up there. (But the bars are still there.), then to a O, then back to 3G.
And if you are on the phone when this happens, it drops the call most of the time.
And, to make matters worse, in many areas, AT&T's network is garbage.
It isn't one or the other. It's both.
