thumbs up if you were tired of getting .1mbps down and .05 up and you were tired of crappy coverage and fake 4g and crappy android phones that glitches and never worked and would never get data and burned ur legs (talking eve 4g)

then decided that u wanted iPhones for ur family members so they had phones that worked and had data that wouldn't be data off (taking epic 4g)

but they wouldn't give it to premier customers that had been there for over 17 years and now they are taking that away for good, iPhones that u trust will work because they are apple because they won't give upgrades

so i switched to att and love my ultra fast data compared to sprint and i am noit at 25% of data and my data cap ends on wedsnesday and starts over

and am never looking back (y)

Did your parents switch carriers?

Fake 4G instead of the real actual 4G? Nobody in the US has real 4G.

I have no data issues here. infact, being this is an iPhone forum, I could care less about what android does or does not do on Sprint as far as 4G. I have had the evo4g in the past, was a nice phone, very fast in my area, but android is too buggy for me.

Sprint has failed to let me down. I have 3 lines that include unlimited data and messaging. I pay an average of $42.00 a line. No where else comes close to that. That includes sharing 1500 mins and unlimited calls to any mobile any carrier. Plus, where I am, service is awesome.

To each their own though.

Same here!

Excuse the ignorance, but isn't the Verizon LTE 4G "real" 4G?

No.

Wikipedia said:
3GPP Long Term Evolution, usually referred to as LTE, is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals. It is based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA network technologies, increasing the capacity and speed using new modulation techniques.[1][2] The standard is developed by the 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project).

The world's first publicly available LTE service was launched by TeliaSonera in the Scandinavian capitals Stockholm and Oslo on 14 December 2009. LTE is the natural upgrade path for carriers with GSM/UMTS networks, but even CDMA holdouts such as Verizon in North America and au by KDDI in Japan have announced that they will migrate to LTE in the future. LTE is therefore anticipated to become the first truly global mobile phone standard.

Although commonly referred to as a type of 4G wireless service, LTE release 8 currently in use does not satisfy the requirements set forth by the ITU-R organization. Future releases of LTE (referred to as LTE Advanced) are expected to satisfy the requirements to be considered 4G.

Wikipedia said:
The pre-4G technology 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) is often branded "4G", but the first LTE release does not fully comply with the IMT-Advanced requirements. LTE has a theoretical net bit rate capacity of up to 100 Mbit/s in the downlink and 50 Mbit/s in the uplink if a 20 MHz channel is used — and more if multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), i.e. antenna arrays, are used.

Currently, the two publicly available LTE services in the United States are provided by MetroPCS, and Verizon Wireless. AT&T also has an LTE service in planned for deployment between mid-2011 and end of 2013, Sprint Nextel has stated it's considering switching from WiMax to LTE in the near future.

The current 4G that Verizon and the others advertise get you 100Mb/s down, 50Mb up. True LTE is 1Gb down, 500Mb up... What everyone is falling for is the marketing buzz around LTE and the telcos pressuring the consortiums to accept their current speeds as 4G. But they truly aren't.

Wow, I would be more than happy with 10-15Mb/s down and 5 Up:D
Never mind 1GB down for a phone.

Be careful with your data usage, assuming you're not an unlimited plan because you just switched to AT&T. Either AT&T or some setting on the iPhone iOS 5 on GSM is creating some major data issues. There's about a hundred threads about how people with typical usage of 200 MB for the month going through that in a day's time. Something's not stirring the kool-aid here.

That stuff is meaningful? What in the world does it mean?

Agreed, I think I'm getting old or I'm out of touch because I have no idea what (y) or (n) mean

I don't know either, but judging by the thread title I'll take a shot in the dark and guess its the thumbs up (y) and thumbs down (n) emoticons.

(y) = thumbs up
(n) = thumbs down

on MSN messenger. It turns into a picture of a thumbs up/down as with other smileys.

please do us all a favor and read more and post less.

i don't have a netflix account and hardly watch videos so i only basically surf the web that is why i am using so little data so i have 3 days left and 1.6gb to spare

I have at&t and I pay an average of $40 per cell phone. 1400 mins, unlimited cell to cell, unlimited text messages, unlimited data and faster data also than Sprint (on the iPhone, not 4G). So yes, someone can come close to $42 a line.

Very nice. That's not offered in my area. In my area Sprint and Verizon are the big dogs as far as quality of calls, and Verizon costs triple what Sprint does. At&t has bad service by me (and is ranked as slower on the 4s by testing done, i think it was by cnet, but could be wrong). Good you have the best deal for your area. Can I ask how many lines you have?

I actually left AT&T for Sprint, because there was no AT&T service in my house. Here is what I got on a speedtest right now:

Thats very slow compared to att, thats why people are surprised and jumping ship. i can pull 5d/1u at home fairly consistently.

That's great and all, but useless if I can't get any service where I live or work.
