He wont talk to the police cuz he was either doing something stupid/illegal or he was trying to commit suicide.

Woods seems to be hiding something... Drudge Report has this:

FOR 3RD TIME, WOODS CANCELS MEET WITH COPS
http://www.drudgereport.com/

and that seems strange for just a simple accident. Tiger released a brief statement but that too is cryptic and does not provide further detail. The seemingly likelihood that Tiger's injuries were not caused in accident is also gaining favor; why put off a police statement if this is not the case?

Because, even without being arrested and/or read his Miranda Rights, it is his right to remain silent. He doesn't have to tell anybody anything until he's ready, iif he wants to say anything at all.

He can write off the car and buy a new one. He may be fined for the hydrant, but he doesn't have to tell anyone about the events leading up to the accident. Just because he is staying silent does not mean he is hiding anything or has guilt for something. it is his right.

He's one of the most private individuals in the world of sport. His yacht is called 'Privacy'... why does the need for privacy, especially when it comes to a potential domestic incident, mean that it's somehow suspicious? Talk about smearing.

Maybe he actually listened to the lawyer ...

Don't Talk to the Police A law school professor and former criminal defense attorney tells you why you should never agree to be interviewed by the police -- split time with a cop saying the same thing.

If he wants to keep his mouth shut about it, I don't see why we can't respect that. His domestic issues are none of our business.

The only thing wronged here was a perfectly good fire hydrant just minding its own business. ;)

Or maybe he just bought the Your Rights app (which I suggest everyone who is a Yank buy).

And speaking of MJ, it's sad to see that people are doing the same thing to Woods with this incident that they did with MJ after vertiligo set in. Those of you who are should go back and have a listen to 'Leave Me Alone'. You'll see how sad you really sound.

Hiding something.. stupid/illegal stuff.. suicide.. pathetic. Let the man be.

So his endorsement deals with General Motors, Titleist, General Mills, American Express, Accenture and Nike, Inc. maintain that privacy? Somehow I tend to view privacy as just that; not being a pitchman for some of this nation's largest companies and being one of the best golfers in the world.

His yacht is called 'Privacy'...

I admire Wood's his success and recognize his many accomplishments in golf. Yet many times these pro athletes often want to play both sides of the fence; being a sports celebrity, being pursued for top corporate endorsements, and (in Woods' case) marrying a Swedish model, yet somehow clawing at privacy and complaining when they don't get it.

No smear intended; just noted that Woods doesn't seem to want to comment to police on a car accident; that is curious and seems to indicate a larger problem.

How did TMZ go from 'Woods hits fire hydrant', to 'Woods has domestic dispute with wife'? If he did have a dispute, and they were at home at the time, surely TMZ couldn't have found out about it.

He can't say nothing to the police, they will keep asking questions. The longer he stays quite the more suspicious they will become.

Not really, they understand what happens when the lawyers get involved prior to the first interview.

It is the public that thinks it makes you look guilty, instead of competently represented.

The police may get a week or two of questioning before they compile an official incident report, the public gets one shot hours later and any further contradictory info constitutes lying.

The final police report will be public sooner or later. So Tiger will have to answer questions at some point and the truth will come out. He can't skirt the issue forever.

While I agree Tiger is entitled to privacy this isn't going to go away. What if he had hit or killed other people or seriously injured himself? If there were prescription drugs involved or psychological/emotional issues they will either be found out or rumors will take on a life of their own. He should just make a statement and be done with it.

Yes, TMZ is trash, but they always seem to be good at finding garbage. Ask Carrie Prejean about that.

Now Tigers alleged mistress has been meeting with Gloria Allred. Let the circus begin!

But he can stretch it out long enough for the lawyers to question him about the incident and write a report for their files, and then file the minimum needed for a police report.

The rather dry, just the facts of the accident, aka at 2 on x day i turned onto south beach road and proceeded to run over a fire hydrant and into a tree.

Due to the head injuries, he should be able to stretch it out for a week or so.

As long as he lives up to the commitments those endorsements require, he has fulfilled his end. Afterwards, he is a normal human being and citizen of this country, like you and I. And because of that, he is entitled to the same rights as you and I, like the right to privacy. Just because he has endorsements does not give you, I, or anyone else reason or recourse to examine his personal life. It is none of our business.

Then admire and be interested in what he does with his career, and stay out of his personal life. See above about being a human being and a citizen of the US.

No smear intended; just noted that Woods doesn't seem to want to comment to police on a car accident; that is curious and seems to indicate a larger problem.

It is his right, and should not mean anything curious or lead to any type of scandal. How about not trying not to read between the lines, and read it in black and white, via the letter of the law.

See article in Golf...

Woods has handled this poorly...

Always better to "handle it poorly" and resist the urge to speak to the public, than make a statement that can and will be used against you or your wife.

If an argument led to the crash, best to stay quiet, otherwise the police are required to make an arrest if they become involved -- and they have.
