I can’t think of anything less appealing than watching flat 2D TikToks in a dork helmet.

It sure is amusing watching the world slap Tim Cook in the face over this idiotic device.
yeah but why do anything on a phone that’s easy to get in and out of interacting with when you can be locked into an incredibly expensive and by many reports uncomfortable and nausea inducing content prison that does exactly the same thing but in a different and less convenient but BIGGER way and also no one can see what you’re looking at and also you look like a dork

In a nutshell.

TikTok update for AVP v39

latest

You can't be immersive with a vertically-oriented aspect ration. Our eyes are side by side not on top of each other. You have over 180 degrees of "vision" in the Vision Pro - and a TikTok video will take, what, 15% of that? A ribbon can't be immersive on a blanket-sized canvas.

Not that I use any of these apps, but it will be interesting to see how quickly YouTube and others release their native apps now that TikTok has jumped in.

Something odd with this app. In App Store shows purchased shows Apple Vision Pro app but if I go to purchased apps no way to get and if I look in my apps it is not installed.

The AVP is not restricted to one app at a time like your phone predominately is. A lot of what I do wearing the APV is running several apps at once and jumping from one to the other by simply looking with my eyes. An App does not have to be "immersive" to be useful (or fun). It really is a different paradigm than your phone.

It is a really small number for Apple. Not to mention Quest sells in millions

Small number, big number, not the issue at all. It’s the number Apple planned to sell, so the only thing it tells us is Apple apparently is on track with their plan.

I was skeptical before but ok I’m all in. Happy to be fully assimilated for this. All aboard the Borg Cube!

If there was an app I didn't care about it had to be TikTok.

What about some really relevant apps!

In that case, ask them to allow you to surround you with videos playing simultaneously in a loop, or back-to-back.
And enjoy the show! 🤣

Don't fall into this time wasting trap, or you may not be able to afford AVP 2nd gen when it comes out.

Oooh... cat videos... that's my weakness... I'm doomed!

Very true... at least one positive point about it.

Quest what...? They don't, unless you side load. So it's not native.

I meant to say relevant productivity apps.
But you are correct, and if this TikTok app helps promote AVP adoption, I'm all for it. Not that I'm going to use it, but I see the benefit of this app being released for the AVP.
For an app you don't care about, you sure have a lot to say...

Quest sells ~240k units a month apple sold that in a few days. At the price even if apple sells 1/5 what Meta sells then they are beating them in revenue and likely profits for VR.

Because it’s new.

The thing about Quest is that it’s established and it still does those kinds of numbers. Will Vision ever ship as many units? Hard to say, but it doesn’t look like it right now.
