belkins design might be good, but magsafe un-friendly. Their magsafe car mount did not worked on non magsafe ip12 case. I assume this one does same. no go for belkins. one of crappiest product company.

Awesome. I’m glad that Tile is hanging in there. I’ll read the reviews after they are released and go from there. Competition is good!

Yeah, you want to put money on that? I'll bite. How much are you going to pay me when Apple don't bring Tile out on stage at the announcement?
Find my integration for third parties has been available since iOS 14.3. Apple may not bring Tile out on stage but Tile has access to Find My if they choose to implement it.

By time AirTags come out it will be too late. A product like this needs something to differentiate itself besides having an Apple logo on it

one in each suitcase and my backpack when traveling.
put one in my gym bag as theft is common around here.
one around my keys and one card sized tile in my wallet.
Interesting! Good suggestion. I imagine as these get more common, thieves will simply look for them and throw them out. But good idea still for lost baggage or on a keychain.

It looks very much like Apple delayed AirTags to add support for third-party implementations as well and included Tile as the partner in that.

I'd put my money on Apple announcing Find My support for third-party U1-enabled trackers and bringing Tile out on stage at their announcement.

Apple is trying to avoid anti-trust regulation in a big way right now and I can't see them gambling their more lucrative businesses on the potential revenue of AirTags.
Tile has been too vocal in their criticism of Apple for them to ever be brought in as partners on stage. I think they are even apart of that coalition of whiners with Epic and Spotify.

Million dollar question - will Apple expose the same location data that Airtags use to locate 3rd party trackers even if the network of iOS devices do not have 3rd party apps installed. As in - I don't have a tile device but if my iPhone picks up UWB signals utilized by a tile device, I am part of the distributed UWB network that helps 3rd party UWB devices find their owners/provides an update on their location?

This is a very tricky problem - Apple is very big on security, but this conceivably could be a legit anticompetitive concern coming from Tile. But how can Apple control how this location data is used? Then again, these sort of devices are purposefully built with tracking location data in mind.

Here's a scenario - what if a 3rd party company uses UWB signals and someone uses a 3rd party device/iOS UWB network to plant a device to stalk someone, hijacking the 1+ Billion iOS device network to update the location constantly. How could the victim know, especially if its a 3rd party device?

But unless 3rd party integration includes access to the distributed 1+ Billion iOS devices with UWB, 3rd party integration with 'Find My' is useless. The real value is the increasing # of devices (in the 1 Billion+ iOS device pool) that support UWB, as iOS owners purchase new phones. If and how Apple opens up this distributed UWB network to 3rd parties is going to be very interesting.

They may stop short of bringing them out on stage -- but I am a strong believer that it will launch with third-party support and you will see Tile having their product ready to go as they were likely given early access to vet the API.

I had the Tile trackers for my Keys and Wallet. Both stopped working in less than a year. I wasn't impressed so I've held off on buying new ones to see if AirTags would be better.

Not worried About this as Apple will get rid of tile. Personally if I were Apple I would sell AirTags at such a low price that Tile wouldn’t be able to.

Tile needs to go.

Out of curiosity, what do people actually use these for? I can't think of more than one or two things that ever get regularly misplaced, and those objects (e.g. socks, a credit card, etc) tend to be small enough that having a tag on them wouldn't make any sense...
a girlfriend of mine would loose anything she put down for more than five minutes: keys, purse, wallet, etc. Tile saved her many hours of searching.
Pets, kids, backpack, laptop case, etc... I had one in my wallet for a while and it actually helped me find the wallet.

So they'll be irrelevant when Airtags drop.

you mean AirTags will be irrelevant.

- Android and iOS compatibility in software.
- attracts more buying users - you want to track an item, unless you’re living alone, it’s always good for more than 1 device to track said item (Android/iPhone usually tends to be a mix in many families homes).

the amount of money to research, implement and ship for sale doesn’t leave much for margins to take advantage of. Not a much better “experience” to end users.

furthermore many countries are still in lockdown so not much is going to be lost by a lot of potential users.

I don’t see profit nor any profound nor significant benefits to Apple to make/sell these nor for the end Apple user.

Big question is whether they adopt apple’s ”find my” SDK to be able to use all ios devices as part of the network.

the better question is will Apples SDK be able to look into Tiles app? Again I believe if anyone in a family wants to track something it’s always best to have 2 devices to do so. Could be iPhone and or Android.

yeah. luckily my gym bag has a secret pocket so i stick it in there.

what? So? That’s like saying you bet on the Packers to win a game but then claim you won because although they lost, they still turned up. I wasn’t responding to the bit about Find My integration.

Yeah, Apple produces so many irrelevant, non profitable products...your posts are always wrong.

I wouldn't if I were them. It would be deleterious to their business model to allow functionality outside of their app.

It's in their best interest to stay out for as long as practical.
