Feeling the heat now, Larry? But I thought Android and your lackey Schmidt had nothing to do with stealing IP from Apple, right?

Android is DEAD. And so is Google.

Thanks for the laugh. Truly ridiculous. Even if Android were to die - that wouldn't mean the end to Google by a longshot. Good luck with that dream and hatred though!

Who says that Google instigated the conversation. By all accounts they've always been open to negotiation, its apple that decided to issue a thermonuclear war on android, not the other way around.

Losing Maps traffic in the upcoming iOS 6 and a billion dollar settlement against the prize hound didn't hurt eh?

And did you expect the freeriding, infringing side to start such a "war"? Come on...

You can make an argument that Apple is freeloading because Motorola has them in their sites for infringing on their patents.

Who cares, Windows Mobile 8 is seemingly more attractive. Google makes a great search engine though.

the tom tom maps are garbage. Most iphone users will end up downloading Google's map app anyways. Samsung's billion dollar penalty has no significance on Google whatsoever.

Beta 3 maps are so much better then Google's already. Have tested extensively and they got it right.

Don't miss and don't want Google maps, and most will find Apple's maps much better.

Sigh, so much for going thermonuclear on Google :(

There's very few circumstances under which that would be a good idea. A large section of the tech community is very upset with Apple right now, and going against Google would only make it worse.

Anyway, the Samsung lawsuit accomplished its goal: It set an example. I don't think anyone else wants to go through that in the near future, so settling differences will be on everyone's mind.

Who cares? Seriously? Are you "new" to this forum. Have you read the responses?

Like I said in my first post in this thread - this is a good thing. For all parties and the consumer. I don't believe the talks were begun out of fear from either company. And quite frankly - it's not at all surprising that the CEOs of two major companies are sitting down to talk. Further - I'd be willing to bet that Tim and Larry don't consider THEMSELVES bitter enemies. They are both savvy businessmen.

It's not some grudge match where either one is going to make the other one "bend over" so to speak.

Was responding to the hate post.....

I concur. It would also be received by the public and those who see Apple is a bit heavy handed, as a sensible way to resolve their differences.

I really don't think apple is being 'heavy handed' when protecting patents. They offered the same deal that MS got to Samsung.
Samsung just didn't want the deal.

The tech community has always hated Apple. I used to be in that crowd. That's before I started realizing tech was supposed to enrich not make me more technical

Just a different philosophy I guess, whatever works for you, go with that.

Android is DEAD. And so is Google.

I've no idea how someone sane could say something like this. Globally Android is insanely popular and in the current generation of mobile OSes, I'd say Jelly Bean is technically more impressive than iOS6. No way Android is dying in the foreseeable future.

That being said, cross-licensing instead of litigation will be beneficial to us consumers as some have mentioned here.

Would be nice if they can have an agreement. Less patent news more products news.
