He should be held accountable. That doesn't negate the fact that the media has been less than objective and unbiased in their reporting. They really are on a witch hunt to get something on him. They are desperate to make him look illegitimate. It has gotten so bad they are also ignoring pretty much anything and everything good he is trying to do, which is a shame. I bet you haven't heard anything about his focusing money toward our (badly needing it) infrastructure. That is actually one of the things he has been trying hard to get moving but you would think all he is doing is tweeting nonsense and being investigated for collusion with Russia despite a single shred of evidence. The media could say "we have no evidence so lets see how this plays out in the FBI before we report NON stop about it". I am almost entirely convinced there is nothing there because if there was we would have heard about it with all the leakers in the government.

Which of his lies are unprecedented? As you said one never expects to trust Government. I don't see how this is different from the lies Clinton told, or the lies Bush told, or the lies Obama told.

You cannot normalize Trump's behavior.

Compare this to CNN. http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/tv/fox/
[doublepost=1497896508][/doublepost]

I agree, fox news is garbage. I never watch that ****. It is part of the dishonest and biased mainstream media (just biased toward the other side of the political spectrum)

False equivalency. This guy even lies about what you can see right in front of your face. It's on a level that one must think he is incapable of knowing what a fact is.

Example please?

You cannot normalize Trump's behavior.
What??

Largest electoral vote win in over 100 years. Biggest turnout for an inauguration. Healthiest President that has ever lived. "I never said that" to things he blatantly, outright said - he's done this so many times that it could be a world record.
Thank you. Those are good examples. He really is his own worst enemy.

The only thing that bugs me about stories like this on macrumors is that it reminds me of the man-child idiot raging dumpster fire that is our president.

Get some consultants to go through every processes in government, implement technologies that following standard practices, and I'm sure they can cut 30% of employees quickly. That's salaries AND pensions they (US taxpayers) will not have to pay for.

I don't like the guy and I don't like everything he's done so far. But he's done a lot considering the witch hunt being put on him by the media.

As for those "he filed for bankruptcy" whiners. How many businesses have you started? Most people who have become very successful in business have probably failed on at least 1 or 2 before that. It's called taking risks. No one complains on the thousands of people he has employed.

For the "Apple the tax dodger" whiners, I'm pretty sure all that money made overseas are after taxes paid on income made in other countries. IE they paid taxes on them, but it may not be the US gov. It's our fault we have such high corp tax rates that it takes armies of tax layers to lower. Personally, I'd rather corporations pay less taxes. At least they use that money to make capital investments (=jobs). Better than going to the lazy workers at government entities.

For the "well that's only X number of manufacturing" jobs whiners - read an economics books and you'll realize manufacturing jobs have a multiplier effect of 3 to 4. Unlike all the waiter barista jobs Obama created... And "low wage oil and coal jobs"? Are you kidding me? A guy with a GED can work in the oil fields and make over 100 g's in the US with a little overtime. I know as the clients I've had have been almost all in oil and gas.

Tomorrow your guy will be five months in the job and so far his only achievement has been the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. For which majority leader Mitch McConnell deserves far more credit, btw.

You must have set fairly low goals for him if it is taking so little to make "this country great again."
Well, no one lets him breathe without saying it's an impeachable act, but that's irrelevant. I guess he could be more like Obama and sign in unconstitutional legislation in the dead of night.
5 months of the media blasting him for crimes that there is no evidence of.
[doublepost=1497907367][/doublepost]
Who knows? Certainly not The People.
If he had done something illegal regarding his taxes, would it not be up to the IRS to collect? Where are they in this matter? You've let speculation during a political campaign shape your opinion.

Yeah, low pay coal and oil jobs, while leaving all the future tech jobs to Europe and Asia. Good job Mr President. Oh and talking about respect to the country, do you really think so? He is making America look like its run by lunatics. The world is laughing at you if you didn't notice. :) Its funny and scary at the same time, like looking at those videos where someone trips on a skateboard and lands on his face.

Edit: Sorry, you got me, I thought you were serious. :p

The average income for a coal miner (who would be part of a union) in the US is $60K. A foreman can make up to $100K. That's good income pretty much anywhere in the country except for the big cities. And in Appalachia? That's damn good income.

Your comment is a perfect representation of why the Democrat party has lost favor with blue collar and union workers. Out of touch.

Trying to cut government spending...with the help of the CEOs of the companies who rely quite a bit on it to turn a profit.

That's going to end sooo well.

I remember, a few years back the German government wanted to make its tax-code easier, so that people could file without paying for a tax-advisor (in most cases).

And who did the Government ask for help for this undertaking? Representatives from the tax-advisor community!

In the end, they found that "Everything is great and nothing needs to be changed".

This initiative is really the same thing in a different color. It's an alibi-exercise. End result will be nothing - or even more money spent on yet another "reform" or "reorganization" (I can actually hear the Google (sorry: Alphabet) guy waffle about "Deep Learning" and "Cloud") that doesn't really do anything but shuffle paper from one desk to another and fill the pockets of contractors.

I wonder if Tim Cook advised switching to the metric system :).
Recommended a tariff on those evil Korean phones. With an all out CIA sponsored propaganda campaign to promote IPhones made with our friends in China. :D

What a deal! Make Apple great again.

I hope someone tells the Donald there are two Koreas, north and south.:D

Perhaps you would like to pay $1 per liter of gasoline? Not me. Keep the American English unit system as it works best. The reality is that corporations are looking to fleece people and would like to use a measurement system with the smallest unit to charge more. Gas and food in metric, then property would be sold in square feet as would carpet and flooring.

Apple is really good at shrinking things. Maybe they could shrink the size of the Federal Gvt. Maybe they could create data trackers for everybody living on the Federal dole. Maybe they can create a surveillance system that helps taxpayers keep tabs on our elected officials. With all those wonderful minds in there, surely they can come up with a way to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse.

Government IT is infamously expensive and horrible. You know, I don't really care outside of academic interest about the stuff that's currently hot in technology, like using machine learning for ad targeting. There's so much really important but really crappy tech like DMV systems and security camera DVRs that could be easily improved massively.

The metric system is of course the best for science but sucks for daily use. Like, what's so important about the freezing and boiling point of water? With ˚F, normal outdoor temperatures are from 0 to 100 with no need for decimal places.

It's infuriating. I want to see Apple or Google or someone destroy those companies with a much better product that the gov't buys. There just has to somehow be the incentive.

Let me help you understand the issue here. It's not a matter of illegal tax activities. His taxes might be fine. It's that we have no idea of the extent of his financial involvements and from what activities he's profiting, and who he employs because he hasn't released his tax returns. It's not speculation or opinion that he hasn't. He hasn't. It's also not speculation or opinion that he said he would and hasn't. Also a fact. And if his possibly-perfectly-legal financial activities create major conflicts of interest with his role as President, the IRS has nothing to do with that.

On some photos from yesterday Tim Cook looks like he was at a funeral. Everyone else is smiling, Cook looks as miserable as one could possibly look.

I didn't vote for Trump and can't stand the guy but geez, I think there are way worse things than being in the Oval Office with Donald Trump. Tim could have a least faked a smile for the camera.

Another way to reduce government spending would be to cut down on those Mar-a-Largo trips Donnie. Although, according to some reports he's on to quite a little earner...

How about every vacation every other politician takes (including Obama and all of his trips to Hawaii)? What you are saying comes off as jealousy.

By the way, did Obama forego his Presidential salary like President Trump? I think not.

You do realize that a person's tax returns won't show what you're asking for? That information will be on a P&L or Balance Statement from the Trump Organization.

The US government still uses a large number of Blackberry devices. I swear, if not for the US government contract, that company would go out of business.

Income from foreign investments and bank accounts will appear on his tax return, as will charitable donations (if any) and borrowing practices. He says he's a good business man so let's see how much debt he has and what he's done with it. Tax returns are a better form of financial disclosure because you can't omit or lie as easily. Even Bush Sr., who I didn't care for as a President, gave over half his income to charity one hear. If we have "nothing to learn" then we should learn that for ourselves.
