Just say no Apple.

We don't need spyware integrated deeply in iOS. One of the key differentiators of the iPhone over Android is privacy from the data harvesting companies like Google, Facebook, et al.

would people with 2nd gen iPads, iphone 4, and iPod touch 4th gen
pay for siri? if given the chance,

i would, if it was at a decent price, not too much under $20

Double Down on security? It seems as though the problems are coming from foxconn. How does one secure a manufacturing giant that gives jobs to millions like foxconn?

Stop the presses: Apple is improving a beta product, and working on providing integration for the biggest social network on the planet. What a surprise!
Oh please. It isn't really in a full beta, that was said so people cant complain about it. Also, If I was a dev, I would want a beta of my software to be distributed as much as possible, so errors could be found and diagnosed faster. Limiting the "beta" to 1 phone model is not going to get results as quick.

If they add Facebook integration, it had better be optional (like Twitter is). Otherwise, it can be guaranteed that I will not update.

I'll be the first to call it even if it is unlikely: New Mac Pros :D

YES PLEASE

I used all caps, but I meant it.

Yes, and that is the only reason. Oh wait...

Siri was originally an app on the App Store (before the 4S came out of course) that Apple did not make. Saying that it will only work on the 4S because of some special hardware is a very lame excuse.

But if Apple wants to make it 4S exclusive, that's fine by me. I don't care that much, and it's Apple's choice anyway. They've got to have a new feature that they can advertise about on the iPhone 4S.

Nope, it's Facebook not cooperating well with Apple last year.
Steve locked horns with Zuck & that was the deterrent.

Cook doesn't have the polarizing attitude, therefore it's a whole new ball game. One with many opportunities.

Cook knows how to maximize opportunities without ruffling feathers.

Apple did Twitter well. You install the Twitter add-on if you want it. I hope they do the same for Facebook because I am not going to install that add-on.

Agreed. Steve was unique and fearless, but I thought he was too.... confronting. I did support his telling-off of Flash, though.

Agree on FB.
Even with all the "cool guy" dissing of Facebook, how can a consumer electronic giant ignore the staggering numbers of FB accounts. Just that alone is reason to look closer

FB's crashing stock is hilarious. It's so bad that the stock exchange won't even let you short it anymore. Facebook is a trend that is bound to crash later. I can see it exponentially losing users until it plateaus and stays at the level of Myspace. None of my friends believe me, but they also didn't believe me when I told them that FB's IPO would be a disaster.

Apple is still innovating!!!

...iOS integration with FaceBook???

FB is a fad...in a few years it will join MySpace, vinyl LPs, cassette tapes, CRT monitors, etc.

So how does Siri run fine on the 3GS then, which doesn't have the chip? Clearly the chip is not needed. It might improve Siri's performance, but again, Siri does work without it.
Here is a video of Siri running good on the 3GS. Honestly the performance shown is great in my opinion.

Something being functional != being functional to certain standards.

There is a lot more to it than just being functional. Think about all the variables with voice command. Quality, voice level, background noise, etc. Do you legitimately think that Apple did not test this on other hardware? I think that is a ridiculous thing to believe. Apple tests so many things on so many products. Who are you to say whether or not a certain feature passed their tests when you have absolutely no idea what their tests are?

I agree facebook is a fad, but for now, for an iOS that lasts just one year that can be changed with one update, I'd like to see a Facebook integration. I only say that because even my Grandparents and other family members less tech savvy and resistant use facebook. For now, this is the best option for keeping in touch with them. Sure, something better will come, but for now, why not? I like the idea very much so :D:cool:

Improvements in natural speech recongnition/interpretation and expanded functionality can't come too soon (well, that is, unless they're poorly implemented because they're rushed). And where are the maps for customers outside of the U.S.? (I know, probably with the next iOS revision, which looks like it will have a new maps app, but the wait is frustrating.)

The first and the last, I'm afraid.

Is it just me or is the "We will be back" at the store a little crooked. I'm sure on purpose if so.
It certainly is, with three slightly lifted corners, to look like a post-it note.

I would love to see apps take advantage of Siri. And I mean both Apple apps and third party apps. Also, being able to adjust settings via voice would be awesome.

Jailbreak and unleash the power of Siri!

I can do all of the above and more with my JB 4S.

Did you see my link? Only the 4S has the noise canceling hardware.

I'm surprised to see so many people praising facebook integration.

Macrumors members complain about privacy and information with google, but they'll praise FACEBOOK integration? Its easily got the absolute WORST privacy settings and its been made pretty obvious that zuckerberg doesnt intend on changing any of the issues with privacy. The dude gets asked directly about the issue and starts to sweat and goes off on a completely irrelevant subject;

Seriously.... Facebook? Absolutely ridiculous.

How about adding some real functionality to iOS devices, like a file browser or loosening all the damn restrictions... like being able to take back your own music from an iPad or iPhone?
