Why is the store still down?!? I don't recall it ever taking this long for quickie updates. Could there be new products?!?!!!!

has been down for six hours now,
and iv had issues/bugs when iv gone to check it

so something big has happened, or is happening to the store

Yeah, it can also mean that they're just pretending to have something big in the pipeline while in reality they have nothing big left and only evolutionary upgrades will hit the stores over the next years.

You are going solely off of speculation, I am going off of his word. We can only wait to find out.

Hmmm... one thing I hope is that the FB integration can be fully disabled by the user. Including any kind of tracking that FB does (even without an account).

What is with this MONOCHROME ???!!!

the store has a new graphic and it is monochrome - what has happened to all the colour at Apple - I am getting pretty sick of this - it started with iTunes awhile ago and has spread all through Lion and now the store visuals - I want the COLOUR BACK Apple. And while I am ranting matte screens.

Facebook gone in a few years ... Garble from Siri

POINT 1
Facebook will have gone in 3 or 4 years time and people will have moved on to something more fun , more trendy, and less censorial ...
POINT 2
Siri is stupid ... Why do these trogs think anything they've seen on sci fi is great idea... It isn't ...
Imagine every silly B with a phone, tablet, computer and god knows what else telling it what to do all the time ... Its bad enough with all these plebs with hands-off, yapping on their phones as they walk along the street like schizophrenics mid flight ... And all the stupid machines overhearing the other persons info, garbling it up, and everyone ending up with completely the wrong things happening
Come to think of it a lot of people wouldn't notice the difference
Hopeless

Make SIRI less US orientated!

SIRI is very US orientated. It often cannot answer the simplest questions relating to things in Europe or other areas. Come on Apple - there's a big wide world out there either side of the Atlantic and Pacific. It is a bit like their claiming 4G for iPads sold in countries that do not currently have 4G and will never have the variety that the iPad can use.

chill

funny how people complain and cry about FB integration when they already have twitter integration in iOS5 which is OPTIONAL! Does anyone force you to sign in with your twitter account or makes you register one? no, so why would you think apple (FB) forces you to sign in with your FB acc or make one to use youriPhone? you guys are ridiculous,... chill

I'm existed for anything new ;)

Same here. If we are forced into it, a nice off switch to suppress it would be nice. For every account on FB there is yet another user totally not interested.

Well, you would have to log in to it regardless of system level integration or not, and I would presume you don't have an account. So what exactly is the problem? How is this forced? It's not like you won't be able to get the new OS unless you have a facebook account. I think many more people are interested in having a better integration of facebook than the minority of haters, many of which actually have facebook accounts anyway.

Such nonsense.

Because it's impossible for something to be appropriate/ideal in some situations and not others... Gotcha.

I'm sick of FB being a part of everything. I don't care about what other people are doing, and I certainly don't want my information being passed along to someone else. FB needs to go away.

I don't believe that Siri is one of the most popular features of the iPhone. Maybe in the first month or so. And I don't discount people that use it regularly. I simply just don't believe that overall it's one of the most popular features. But I don't expect a CEO to say anything different.

Well, I'm sure other people don't care what you are doing either. FB is part of "everything" b/c it's part of so many people's lives. Not yours, I understand. Not mine actually either, b/c I share your privacy concerns. But there are hundreds of millions of people who do use FB to stay connected with F/F and as long as they do FB integration will increase. If FB turns out to be a fad it will disappear like the morning fog at noon.

The good news is all this integration is transparent so if you don't want to use it don't.

I am so sick of these companies putting to much effort into Facebook integration.
Come on, spend that energy fixing Lion and adding cool stuff to iOS! No offence to the Facebook people but I think it is a fad that will slow down.

You are going solely off of speculation, I am going off of his word. We can only wait to find out.

Yeah, the waiting game has always been the story with Apple. Since he actually hasn't said ANYTHING except for the typical empty corporate phrases, there are only three options available: Wait, don't care or move on.

That's what I enjoy about Steve Ballmer interviews. He's simple and straightforward: We go out there, get beaten, get back on our feet again and go back until we finally kick their sorry asses. Simple, but with a clear message, believable and even fun to listen to.

Heck, do you see how much the Windows 8 crew and other Microsoft development teams are blogging these days?

The thing is, we live in 2012, Open Source, social networks, blogs and the Internet are a reality and open communication - not secrecy - is what people expect from an IT company.

This whole secrecy crap from a CONSUMER tech company just does not belong here anymore.

After all, they are not working on anything that a nation's security would depend on. They produce toys and gadgets and personal computers. I get it from a marketing perspective, though. It just doesn't speak positively to me anymore.

I am very upset that siri hasnt been more integrated. Apple seems to push it under the rug at times. Keeping it from the iphone 4, in my mind, was a mistake. They should have brought it to the iphone 4 once enough people bouth the 4s. And why Siri isnt on any iPads is beyond me. Hopefully we will not see this amazing technology get dropped.

Dude, it is in beta. You don't throw a beta product directly at 100+ million possible users off the bat. If you want widespread testing, you put it on a new device and build up the user base. When a specific usage threshold is hit, or when it is finally released from beta, Apple may start opening it up to other devices as well.

Facebook really? Zero f**ks given! Give me new technology, not social networking...

Agreed, I'll be pissed if Facebook integration is considered one of the "great new features" in iOS. Though, I believe it will be 3D maps, and improved Siri functionality.

Before Apple could possibly integrate Facebook, Facebook has to release an app which isn't a performance nightmare...

I agree. I originally used Sir a lot more within the first couple of weeks, yet there just really is not much that I have used Siri for lately. Although, the ability to talk out a text message is something that I still use daily. Maybe if the maps app was better then I wouldn't have to use mapquest and could just ask Siri for directions, although this would only increase my usage of Siri minimally. Time for them to come up with new daily uses, such as turning wifi on and off, adjusting the brightness, opening other apps... So basically features that the jailbreak community has been working on.
