I think I know why....Im guessing last years winner felt he got nothing. Tim doesnt say anything, except we have some great products coming....this is what I always says and nothing more. Steve Jobs was 10x better to sugercoat an make things sound interesting, even if he didn´t reveal any secrets.

A lunch with Tim seem like one utterly boring hour imo, like talking to a rock.

If I were a millionaire I would pay a lot for a lunch with steve, that could have been an interesting chat.

If you pay $ 300k for a lunch meeting you don't give a damn about the upcoming design of the iPhone or iPad. You pay that sort of money to have a chat with a gifted businessman and to hear how they manage a company like Apple.. That's worth a lot more to a guy like that I would imagine. Don't really think it's a fan boy bidding here ;-)

"...winner of the auction will be able to meet with Tim Cook for approximately one hour..."

Heaven forbid, that lunch should go over 1 hour - nice culture at Cupertino!

You clearly read this article just to find something to criticize. Having failed, this was the best you could come up with.

So...who was the winning bidder?

I just had a sick thought... Carl Icahn. LOL!

When you've just handed over $330,000 without thinking twice, the cost of travel is probably penny change to you.

If I had to guess, I'd say he was joking >_>

For that price, Apple should fly you out to Cupertino, provide you with an amazing meal, an hour's chat with Tim Cook, an iPhone, and iPad and your choice of a top end MacBook Pro or Mac Pro!!

See your comment above.

Sarcasm...

I'm sure it was tax-deductible.

Real charity would be for Apple to man up and pay the licensing fee for Rosetta, and offering it for free (just like the awesome Mavericks!) for Mac users who still prefer an OS than works, not just looks pretty.

Some one had more money than brain power I would say. I LoL at the 100k "value" placed on such a lunch. I honestly can't think of one person I would pay 1k dollars to eat lunch with much less 100x that.

for that price, they should dig up Steve Jobs and Johnny animate him with strings

OMFG THIS WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to agree. I might pay that to have an old loved relative reanimated for a day but for an hour with a company CEO, never.
If that person is going to impart some business secrets which I doubt very much that he is, then maybe there's some value. But seriously people get a grip.

I suspect that if you can drop 300k on lunch with Tim Cook, you already are a gifted businessman. If the motivation was more than simply a charitable donation then it was buying an opportunity to pitch something to Apple.

Charity ??? What charity ???
It'll be charity when AAPL pulls money out of their own pocket !!! Look what Bill Gates does ! AAPL and Cook don't do any charity !

Less lunch, & get on fixing Mavericks Mr.Cook.

So much crap around Apple at the moment; they need to remember who they are & what they do.
