Not necessarily. For extremely low volume devices like the future expensive headset and the expensive Mac Pro, there’s enough capacity in the US to cover assembly. They’d still have to ship some parts from overseas, but, at these volumes, one container could last them a few months of production.
I guess we don't know much about the Mac Pro at this point... but I'd be really surprised if the headset is made here. Too many dependencies on Asian supply chain and manufacturing.

We DO know that any Mac Pro is going to sell in very low numbers, that’s why they’ve been able to be assembled in the US previously. SO, it makes sense that they’d keep that going with the big difference that they’d source the SoC’s from the US. For the headset, it’s my guess that while some enthusiasts may want it just because it’s got an Apple logo on it, the sales will be to those creating those earlier experiences, so those sales may be intended to be low as well. But, you’re right, we’ll see within the next 5 years or so.
