But there are "enterprise" cars - those would be commercial vehicles no? Commerical and
Why does it need to be disassembled? I have an iPhone 6 that I'm handing down to someone. It's not going into a landfill somewhere.

On average, devices go through a lot of wear and tear - if Apple or one of their partners is planning on a used market, it would be in their interest to refurbish the device so that it is in relatively good condition for a second hand sale.

I think the roughest thing for MS is that they are still too hard-tied to Intel processors(x86). Due to the ongoing lack of great tablet apps, they can't point to a great future on ARM devices to mitigate a possible future fall-off by Intel.

Huh?

Apple can't declare victory yet, at least not where I work. The IT people there are still solidly Windows (stuck in the past with Windows XP) and the majority of them still hold the opinion that Apple makes overpriced crap that's incompatible with anything but their own products. (Their only concession is that Macs "are good for graphics".) Basically, most of the IT decision makers are living in the 1990s and can't see where technology is going, and don't really care. They're more invested in defending their limited knowledge base. I wish that was a situation that Apple could fix. But I think it's just a matter of waiting until those people retire and new more open-minded IT workers take their place. Until then, it will be a struggle for Apple to make inroads at my institution.

Do organizations have the options to "retire" Active Directory/Windows Server/Exchange in favor or Hipchat/Slack/iCloud etc... I'm not sure that there will ever be a demise of MS software in enterprise.

Then they should really get off Android.

Android has a lot of nice features, but terrible battery life on most phones.

That sounds like a very random complaint considering the different models and good reviews that many Androids get?!

Well my Nexus 5 was lucky to get to the afternoon on a single charge after upgrading to Lollipop. I love Material Design, but it's clear that Android would benefit from an Apple-type deal of full vertical integration.

Box is almost exactly like Dropbox, more people should use it. Competition is good for the consumer. I wonder why it doesn't get any more support

That's a nice way of thinking. How about partner with Crapdroid and release iMessage there? I really want to ditch WhatsApp but most of my friends are stuck on Android.

Agreed, Whatsapp sucks, but what about Telegram?

Apple could really run away with enterprise mobility if they only tried.
What apple needs:

Cloud based "Apple Configurator"
Companies sign up and pay for the service

Company devices somehow get "tagged" so that when they check into "iCloud" they are redirected to the company's cloud configurator for registration and control automatically

Would allow for DEEP integration to the IOS (as this is coming directly from apple) Like move/organize icons, set restritions, move any switch set any options, create profiles, etc

Remote wipe, remote de-register (and remove all company customization/apps/email, etc...)

Would be nice if they allowed remote control to remotely support users

Streamline the app deployment, get rid of those .csv files for redeemed apps, we should be able to "buy" any number of an app through the cloud (say 100 copies) and deploy those apps to 100 devices, if one device goes off of my cloud configurator then the apps no longer work on the device and I get one license back.

Use GPS to track locations of devices, and perhaps geofence devices, either they "lock-down" when out of geofence or they alert, or email the admin or any combination.

Maybe allow for group Imessage and possibly group facetime all controlled through this company cloud configurator.

Anyway, thats what I want.

They already have most of this, it's called the Device Enrolment Program.

Can't stop looking at that shoes/socks/short pants combo. Did he lose a bet?!

What a dork.

I'm assuming this Aaron guy thinks he's 'hip' wearing trainers like that with a lounge suit? Obviously too cool for shoes.

Kinda wish Apple still had the Xserve and more powerful server software. Their current server stuff is good for maybe a mom & pop store or small offices, but it doesn't cut it for larger companies, much less multinational companies. But hey, there's no money in that, right? Servers aren't "sexy" enough, I guess.

I tried to make my closest friends to join... it was a total fail but the platform is really great.

What is it with people and their file system obsessions?

It's simple, really.

There's (admitedly) a few people that want Apple to produce an actual pocket PC, so they can organize things the way they want to, not the way Apple or an app dictates.

That said, that is NEVER going to happen so they should let it go, but hope springs eternal.

Yeah, all those cloud data centers don't need servers.... :-O

Yes yes yes!!!! Pleeeeaase!
This is the only thing I want apple to change! When living in NZ I used nothing but iMessage, loved it, it's easy fast and works! But since moving to Asia I'm forced to use a huge selection of different apps to communicate... Line, FB, WeChat, Viber, WhatsApp, it's a nightmare and I get bombarded with ads and spam. I will kiss the ground the day I can delete all those ****** apps and just use iMessage.

This my company right here, in fact they just got rid of the few macs we did have and dumbed down to windows XP.

Maybe you should visit the Silicon Valley someday before your demise. Most everyone dresses with sneakers and jeans. This goes for Ebay, Google and other tech companies there. Being so dapper and proper is boring. What's more important is the product, not how GQ the CEO looks.

Yeah fashion has never been the Focus in the valley. NO ONE has time for that when they are busy trying to make millions in a short span of time. This industry moves to fast to be fiddling with cuff links and ties.

Off topic, but finally an Apple CEO or board member that dresses properly. It's about time they ditch the sneakers and untucked shirt style. And now please get off my lawn.
Actually he is wearing black on black sneakers, and black jeans

Seriously, Tim Cook, get SMB to actually work on Mac OS X for once and people might start taking Apple seriously in the enterprise. Until then, it's an ongoing embarrassment.

Not really, device enrollment program allows us to buy devices and have them pre-registered to my company, and attached to my MDM.

however MDM, while useful, has many limits:
Can Only set certain settings.
I cannot set the restrictions password or many restrictions in general
I cannot set many of the options that are available in the settings app
I cannot organize the icon layout, set background image, etc..

Currently we have to use the apple configurator in conjunction with our MDM solution.
The configurator allows us to do many of the things we want, but you have to physically connect the device.

This is all still leaps and bounds better than android at the moment, I just think apple could push this even further.

Sorry but that just isn't going to happen. MS is so far out in front of Apple when it comes to the enterprise software(server, client) and Azure that all Apple can do is just offer devices to interface into it like they have been(iPads, iPhones).
