More companies should do surprise visits by the CEO.

When I worked at Target, they would do planned visits and they put in extra effort to make the store look perfect, and that doesn't give an accurate depiction of what the store is like on an average day. In reality, the store is usually a mess and understaffed.

Say what you will about Tim Cook (and around here people sure do) it would be pretty cool if I were browsing around an Apple Store and Tim Cook strolled in and struck up a conversation.
Why? What would you say? "Oh gee Mr Cook I love Apple products". Most people are too shy in reality and I'm guessing most of the Tim Cook haters here wouldn't have the balls to call him out to his face

Are there any photos of the security guards around Tim? He doesn't look like he has much security support.

He was possibly paying respects to the French for the incident that happened at the Louvre. The CEO basically showing his support for that nation. That speaks volumes. But Tim, did you come to Canada last week? ;)

Not for Cook it wouldn't. I'd take his skinny butt to task on the ridiculous state of the Mac line and the way he's squandered Steve's legacy. Oh what, he's made millions for the board with ridiculous margins, so I'm supposed to be star struck? Yeah, no. Sorry but he's just another millionaire pencil pusher.

We've all forgotten our dongles or chargers on a work trip and had to stop in and buy one. I'm surprised he didn't send his assistant to get them though

I would have no problems asking Tim respectfully some of the questions that seem to come up here in MR.

With the staff group photo. Funny how he grabbed and wrapped around his hand around those 2 men. Well, he's the big boss!

If I got to meet him in person the first and foremost thing I'd love to talk to him about is his stance on privacy.

I would applaud him for being stronger than even some of the European companies and that to a reasonable degree I can expect my Apple gear to somewhat protect my data.

That is very very important, because unlike many of the things I love to criticize Apple for this is the highest priority kind of issue.

I'd be very tempted to also inquire about the Mac and Aperture, but I doubt that catching Cook somewhere you're granted all that much talk time. :D

For anyone who knows Marseilles... Tim is kind of slumming it.

So you're saying you'd be an impolite jerk to someone you'd never met before? Someone who has never interacted with you personally? How nice. And you believe your unhappiness at not being able to buy the exact kind of electronic device you want, warrants such boorish behavior?

The other interpretation would be that you meant it is Kabeyun, the OP, rather than you, that Tim Cook would thoroughly dislike meeting. Have you and Tim Cook discussed Kabeyun often?

Yes. That's exactly what I said. Verbatim.

No, I wouldn't be a jerk I'd just answer any questions he might have for me (if he had any) with answers that aren't all sunshine and rainbows. Otherwise I'd ignore him.

You practically ticked all of your own boxes. Your interpretations are irrelevant.

If by this you mean you'd give him a piece of your mind over Apple things you don't like, either A) you'd offer constructive criticism, which I suspect he'd take just fine, or B) you'd dress down a complete stranger in public over electronics, in which case I can say with absolute certainly that I hope we'd all have better manners than that.

B) Isn't cool for anybody to do. He is still a person after all.

I wish he could have been at the Apple store last week where my pregnant wife had to spend 90+ minutes to get her iPhone fixed after a simple SIM card change had near-bricked it. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Yikes, I wouldn't wish that on anybody - her or him.

Chillax, Tigger. I just said it'd be cool. I might not say anything. On the other hand I recognized Merrick Garland on a trip to DC last summer, and exchanged a few words. Same with Rob Reiner, John Leguizamo, Johnny Depp, and several others. Growing up in NYC, you meet all kinds. They're just people.

I also think that the impediment to calling someone out to their face should be manners, not lack of balls.
