Others are already shipping products. Why wait for products from Apple that are not even announced but merely rumored?

Wow, the lack of logic in this comment hurts my brain . Maybe because Apple has never announced any such projects or asked you to wait for anything? Tons of companies are shipping tons of products that Apple doesn't currently ship, does that mean Apple OWES you one for every product that others do make?

Yep, coming this fall, the Apple microwave, and electric toothbrush, and vacuum cleaner, and tupperware container set.....because other companies make these products and Apple doesn't yet.

Last time I checked, phones had been around for decades before Apple made one. They didn't ask you to "wait" for them to make one. They simply made one when the time was right and they could create a breakthrough product. You aren't "waiting" for anything considering the fact that Apple hasn't promised anything. Rumors are not announcements.

And this is exactly why Steve Jobs tried so damn hard to keep his companies projects secret.

Tells me that MR knew a tweet using the phrase "details matter" would get lots of hits right now. And they also know plenty of posters don't much care for Cook so put the two together and you get mega hits. That is until Samsung's new phone is announced. :D

Tim Cook sending a couple tweets on Steve's birthday is "hiding behind Steve"? Good grief.

No possible for anyone to accurately understand another's motivations. I simply posted my own reaction to the tweets.

Yet millions are waiting to see what Apple has.

I avoided buying a new watch because of Apple.
I avoided buying an activity tracker because of Apple.
I avoided buying anything else including a TV because of Apple.

See the pattern?

All you are really saying is that Steve was a rock star, and Tim is not. We know. Few companies are ever run by rock stars, and if any company can only be run by a rock star, then they are... doomed.

Bingo! For all of his many talents and his vision, if, after 14 years back at the helm Steve Jobs left Apple in a position to fail without him there he wasn't quite the visionary and oracle his reputation would seem to suggest.

One sign of how good you are (were) as a manager is how well the organization runs when you're not there.

Happy Birthday both. MacRumors is probably the most sane place today, and I'm glad. People are going nuts over phones, ridiculous. Had to walk away from that.

And yes, I agree, details ARE important.

I wouldn't confuse your loyalty with the mindset of 'millions', because it isn't true.

And you didn't buy a TV because of Apple? oh dear, well you'll be waiting a vveeerrryyyyyyy long time then.

Who knows how much of SJ involvement was in during the development of the latest Mac Pro. But lets just say for a moment that he didn't have any involvement. The amount of detail and thought that was put into this machine is truly incredible. I realize that there are 2 side of arguments for this machine, Some love it and some hate it with a passion, the fact remains though...Apple can still turn out beautiful devices and they take the time to (usually) get it right!

But wait, you're being rational....thats not allowed here! The blind haters would rather choose to ignore the amount of thought that went into products like the Mac Pro, and instead make themselves believe whatever they want themselves to believe.

On the anniversary of Steve Jobs 59th birthday... thanks to the following (SO FAR)... for dissing it

It's a shame that MR can't have something nice for those that cared about Steve Jobs and all that he did to keep Apple from not only dying back in 1997 but to become the most important tech company today (and the most profitable) without a bunch of people who can't seem to do anything with their time other than bash a wonderful leader and talented CEO (Tim Cook), the best tech company in the world (Apple) or a true visionary taken too quickly from this world (Steve Jobs)... a crying shame:

That’s one way to justify the time it’s taking for iWatch to make an appearance…

"It's Worth Waiting to Get It Right."

We've been waiting since the depart of Steve Jobs for Apple to "get it right".

Remembering Steve on his birthday: "Details matter, it’s worth waiting to get it right."

Really Tim? So why the f did you rush iOS7? And Mavericks? And iTunes11?

One of the problems with having a larger than life persona at the head of a company is that people's perceptions get all distorted.

Because, while Steve was at the helm, everything went perfect, no products had flaws and everything was puppies and champaign.

Steve's reality distortion field even works from the grave.

And mobile me? Oh wait, who rushed that out?

So it's just tweets from Tim Cook? Big deal.

Yeah right. They didn't wait to roll out iOS7.

Is this going to happen every year? Fans remembering a dead billionaires birthday who they have never met?

Seriously, move on, and that goes for Apple too, they need to move away from Steve Jobs, look to the future.

And as for the hypocritical 'Details Matter'! Yeah, stop trying to float Steve Jobs when you can't even make a decent software update to your biggest customer base! As i was reminded again last night updating the iPad 3 to the latest iOS7 rubbish, and seeing that wonderful lag when the screen rotates.....

Yeah Right...!!! :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Mavericks is a MESS...!

+1!

Side comment… The Apple exec's seem like a bunch of SJ "wanabee's" with their jeans and un-tucked shirts. I wish they would stop that and just be themselves.

Stop living in the past Tim, and go invent the future.

Is this why iOS 7.1 is taking so LOOOOONNNNGGGGGGG????

I'll write it again: "I don't idolize him, I just like the company's products."

Read it again and understand that I didn't care much for Steve. He was who he was and Apple was different under his guidance. I don't doubt Cook has/will do a great job at Apple, it's simply different now.

And I care about their products, and only that.

Sorry I don't think two tweets from Tim Cook are newsworthy. If MR was really interested in honoring Steve on his birthday there's other ways to do it, IMO.

Yes we're all missing out by not buying a Galaxy Gear. I mean a Gear 2. Sorry, I meant a Gear 10.1 with S-Pen. No, my mistake, the Gear 12-mini, that's the one for sure. Thank goodness I didn't wait for Apple.

They will have a Gear Active at some point. You know, for those who tend to drop things in the toilet.

Just once I'd like to see one of those who like to throw darts at everything deploy a successful software rollout to millions of people with no bugs. I'm sure you could get it perfect the first time.

Not a damn thing wrong with any of those products. iOS7 was stable for me in beta 3. Mavericks is so much more stable than Mountain Lion ever was, and it rocked.

On the one hand, I agree. I am certain that all the whiners here have never built anything worth paying for and therefore have no clue what they are talking about.

On the other hand, I find the "excuse" of "the user/consumer doesn't know how hard it is" to be pretty lame. Users and consumers shouldn't have to know and in fact, don't care. They don't care what the car manufacturer's hardships are if the brakes don't work. And they don't care what the software company's hardships are when the software exposes the user's personal data.

Happy Boithday

Happy big ol' B-Day MacRumors. Wow, it's really been that long huh? I was just a kid when I first started visiting this site. Now I'm about to have my own kid. Thanks for hanging with me through it all.

My dad still talks about the time he took a plane ride and sat next to a very young Steve Jobs. Who wouldn't?

That's a good way to put it. Corporate culture is a lot more important than people generally realize. Some companies are condemned to mediocrity or failure not because the CEO lacks vision or charisma, but because of how the company sees itself, down deep. I think Steve is embedded in Apple's DNA and will remain there for a long time to come.

Now, if I had one suggestion for Cook, it's that he give up on making presentations to the public. He just isn't very good at it, and his lack of flair for the dramatic only continually reminds everyone that he isn't Steve. I think Apple should hire a presenter team, a couple of people who are really good at communicating Apple's vision and their enthusiasm for new products. If they were good, really good, they'd develop a kind of celebrity all their own, and we'd look forward to hearing from them, rather than cringing a little inside when Tim Cook describes an Apple product "amazing" for the umpteenth time.

I guess your comment will be true or false based on Apple iWatch vs Samsung watch sales.
