Case of too many cooks spoil the broth when it comes to Apple products. They didn’t need an Apple Watch Ultra on top of the Series 8 and SE.

Just make the Ultra the only Apple Watch available.
Maybe life changing technology should be accessible and affordable for more people than just you? Then again, that is my opinion and perhaps a selfish one...

So a 65 year old pensioner is going to wear an ultra when he falls and breaks his hip…. Yeah right. AU$1299 v AU$399 for the SE.

Samsung has done that out of necessity to compete and to capture the market share.
Oh, so when Samsung have so many products to capture the market, it’s okay. When Apple do it. 😂😂😂
Are you actually joking, or do you believe all this?

You can have one of each product and they will form the ecosystem. Don’t need the others.

It’s not about being told it’s about Apple splitting it for no reason. The only
iPhone models that should exist are the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.
Same goes with the iPhone. Not everyone wants to pay AU$1749 for the iPhone pro, when they can get the SE for AU$799.

Majority of people don’t care about the heat as long as it’s vented efficiently allowing full performance to be achieved.
The majority of people get a laptop for portability and they need battery life. But I guess some people are happy with a "tabletop" because it’s too hot to take with them and use on their lap. Or they get half the power because it’s not plugged in…. Meh… choices, eh? MacBooks don’t throttle when you take the plug out, they throttle when they render 6 x 8K videos simultaneously. You talked about innovation. Where is the Intel innovation with that?

I do want to thank you though. The more I look at it because of your post, the more it seems Apple have got their choices down to a fine art covering all choices, price points, premium v great features for such a small number of products. They’ve got it right. Just wish I didn’t have to wait 5 weeks for my new shiny Apple Watch. I guess that’s what you get for buying the most popular smart watch in the world.

This felt weird.

They keep reiterating what Steve said, but they dont seems to understand why Steve said it in the first place.

Yea and surprisingly from Ivy. Steve was about craftsmanship and caring about what you put out in the world.
These two men are pale replacements.

Yea he would because that would be the only option for the Watch.

Samsung did it out of desperation and the quality gap between the products is vast. Not saying it’s ok for them either. But Apple traditionally only ever released one iPhone per year. It’s only when Tim Cook came in they started releasing loads of different models.

Again that’s the way it used to be. One iPhone take it or leave. It had all the latest tech on one model because they couldnt pick and choose which features to move to different models to increase prices. iPhone 14 Pro series at iPhone 14 price points that’s how it should be.

Alot of MS laptops actually have comparable battery life these days.

When I say they should have made just the Ultra I also meant that it should be priced at the Series 8 prices.

Apple products pricing is seriously overinflated at the moment as it has been for the last 5 years.

This is it. Steve was an OCD perfectionist which is why the products were great when he was alive. Can’t replicate that, Tim Cook is just a bean counter with no artistic or inventive streak in him.

He just works to please shareholders now who historically Steve Jobs didn’t give one dime to when he ran the company. He saved all that cash to reinvest.

Based on what? That is factually a load of rubbish.
All Apple products use tried and tested technology that have been out for years. The price of the technology has already fallen when Apple uses it so they have no reason to inflate prices other than greed.

OLED screens had been in the market for a decade with Samsung phones when they eventually used it on the X. Apple didn’t invent a new OLED screen for the iPhone X they were sourced from Samsung. Those same screens had been in their phones for 10 years.

Where is the price increase justification? The Face ID was decade old tech from Microsoft and its Kinect sensor.

Again, that’s simply not true. Tell me who was using the M1 before it came out. Who has the H2 in the EarPods right now other than the brand new Airpods Pro? Give examples where what you said is true instead of making blanket statements that simply have no basis in fact.

OLED invented in 1987 by Kodak, started production 2001 and not by Samsung. Notwithstanding it’s 1 single part of 1 product. But on your own flawed basis, Samsung who make the screens are over-charging even more!

Kinect Failed. Apples FaceID worked (and the makers of Kinect are owned by Apple now anyway). Again, facts. Some people cannot admit when they’re wrong and your bias has clouded any reasonable argument you want to present. Just move on. Samsung are generally more expensive than Apple for high end phones so your arguments are just plain weird.

Samsung put out 20 odd phones covering a large market. Apple put out 5 (all of equal or better quality than the Samsungs) and cover most markets and you still say Samsung are right and Apple put out to many. 🤷🏻‍♂🤦🏻‍♂️

Just weird.

ARM is the company that invented the A series chips used in iOS devices. Apple licences the technology from them and makes modest adjustments. M series chips are just an evolution of those A series CPUs. So the underlying technology is not Apples.

Firstly I didn’t say Samsung invented it. Also doesn’t change the fact OLED was around for over a decade before Apple used it in the iPhone X which was the first iPhone to jump ridiculously in price. That price jump was based on OLED and Face ID alone both technologies had be tried and tested so they would have had low R&D costs.

Kinect failing and Apple buying the technology has no relevance to my argument. The point is by the time it arrived on iPhone it was tried and tested technology over a decade old. It worked perfectly on the Xbox.

Obviously not reading properly. I stated neither Samsung or Apple are right in splitting the phone category into multiple phones. But at least with Samsung you get different form factors like folding phones.

Apple designed the A/M Series chip. TMSC manufacture it under licence. You’re arguments are a moving beast, and you’re still making stuff up.

So Kinect failed, but it worked at the same time? Make up your mind.

Samsung have folding phones, granted. And a dozen other models. It was YOUR point that Apple made too many yet you have a completely different point of view on samsung.

What point is there for Apple to have 1 phone, 1 iPad and 1 watch as you say is the "correct" thing to do, whereas Samsung are right by having about 20 across the board? That makes no sense!

So your latest argument is based on R&D, right, I’ll try and remember that but I’m sure that will change. Because all your other assertion’s have fallen over. Anyway I give up. No point in trying to explain someone who can’t comprehend facts and keeps moving the goal posts, but I wil concede that you have the greater imagination. Enjoy your pointless hating of everything Apple.

With regard to the M Chips. Show me a laptop that competes with the MacBook Air. For battery, thermals, portability, power and then price. Please. All of the competitors either throttle, have poor battery or just plain suck. Why do you have to plug in a windows machine to get full CPU performance?

I never said it was the most powerful computer available. But feel free to keep your coffee hot on the body of your computer whilst rendering 6 x 8K videos simultaneously. Just take care you don’t reboil it, as it might spill.

Products absolutely has to do with the ecosystem. Sure I get that you don’t like the Apple Watch SE or the Ultra, or the standard Apple watch with or without the stainless steel. I chose the stainless steel version this time because it suits me. Others will choose the SE because it suits them. Same goes with the iPhone. I chose the Pro, because I use the LiDAR. I have the iPad Pro, my wife has the iPad Mini. It’s about choice. Most people do.

I respect that you want to be told you can only have this iPad, or this iPhone and you don’t want choices. Thats totally up to you. But if you want to compare companies, because you appear to hate Apple, Samsung has (just in phones):

A whole range of Z phones
A whole range of S phones
A whole range of FE phones
A whole range of M phones (just for the bigger battery)
A whole range of A phones
A whole range of J phones

Apple has 2 iPhones, 2 iPhone Pros and 1 iPhone SE. That’s 5 phones put out once per year and covering different price points, uses, sizes.

So I’d really like to understand how you can think Apple has sooooo many things going on when a company 1/6th the size of Apple puts out a new version of phone every 2 months!

They don't though do they?

When I go on to the Apple.com store here in the UK I can buy seven separate models of iPhone and 5 different iPad models. There are now four separate kinds of AirPods that's before you get into the multiple storage tiers and colour options.

Some of the devices (iPad Air) seem like they only exist to straddle gap between the entry level model and the super expensive model.

Agree with this.

The funny thing is Apple has the opportunity with the two tiered releases (iPhone/iPhone Pro) to go more experimental and push the boundaries with the 'Pro' phones but they won't.

One thing that would have been different if Jobs had lived is that the rate of innovation on the iPhone would have been faster, I think he would've demanded it.

Apple, as it was under Jobs, have become a reflection of their leader and everything seems to be built around supply chain efficiency and they seem to wring the same product designs out for years.

You obviously don’t know how to read since I have said the exact opposite of what you’re bleating on about. Everything I have stated is fact backed up by articles everywhere.

The fact is ARM owns the technology and other manufacturers use ARM chips so yes Apples CPU’s are in other devices.

Kinect wasn’t a failure technologically it failed in consumer adoption.

For the THIRD time. Now please read carefully…..Samsung and Apple are BOTH wrong when it comes to having too many different models of phone. BOTH ARE WRONG. Can’t make it any clearer than that. If you still can’t understand I can’t help you with the problems you have.

Please, just stop making a fool of yourself. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You have blinders on to Apples behaviour. I admit I used to be like you always defending them but recent years they have been awful.

They even separate AirPods by the charging case now.

Pretty much wow. There are no words for the way you change what you’re saying constantly. Why are you even on here here if you hate Apple?

ARM own the instruction set, the architecture. Apple wrote their own under licence using ARM (Cortex) as a basis. TMSC make it.

Apple and Acorn developed the chipset together (way back when) and Acorn finally became ARM. Again. Your so-called facts are WRONG. Apples CPU's are ONLY in Apple devices, not anyone else’s. Grow up and stop hating a company based on yoir own idea about what they should do. The richest company in the world has a much better grip on their product line up than you. Clearly.

I was talking about new products, but yes. I see the same in Australia. 2 x 12’s, plus the new ones. They’ve done that for a while, and I assume it’s to offer a lower price (which is what I thought the SE was for). I wasn’t thinking about that.

Personally, I don’t have a problem with selling more choices. It was someone else. They said that Samsung were right to do it and Apple should only sell 1 phone, 1 watch and 1 iPad. Straddling the gap isn’t bad though is it?

Fortunately Apple tend to support their products for quite a few years afterwards. They just did an update for old devices that run on iOS 12! That’s the 2013 iPhone 5S!

Can I ask you an unrelated question? I’m coming to UK over Xmas. Do you know the best quality and/or phone service/sims for pay as you go?

Live in your little dream world. ARM chips are inside Microsoft Surface tablets. There’s only minor modifications that can be made to the underlying architecture.

Apple had no hand in developing the ARM chips.

Money isn’t the only metric for success. The only reason they have so much money is because blind sheep like you defend their overinflated pricing and bend over for them. If people stopped buying iPhones the prices would soon fall.

Their product line up is an expression of their opinion on how it should be done. My opinion to have a more streamlined set of products is just as valid and another way of thinking, doesn’t mean I’m wrong.

The company is able to do what it does today because Steve Jobs thought the same way I do. He returned to Apple and trashed every product they sold and streamlined the entire product line up.

Think this person agrees with me that Apple have too many variations of products.

Keep spinning your lies. I’ve stated countless times Samsung and Apple should BOTH reduce the amount of phones they sell.

You agreed with me in a previous post that Apple should sell 1 iPhone, 1 iPad and 1 Watch. Why are you changing your mind now?

Please don’t come to the UK.

In my experience EE are pretty much the best network for coverage and reliability.

I'm not sure how they measure up for pay as you go vs the other networks you would have to check, the other one worth looking at would be Vodafone.

I have also used Three and O2 previously and although they are often slightly cheaper than EE/Voda I don't find them to be nearly as reliable in my part of the country (North West).

I do think their line up is becoming very convoluted, when I look at Samsung theirs is the same. It's as if they are competing for who can have the most flagship phones and you almost need some kind of chart to figure out what the difference is between some of the models.

Apple also keep some older models in the line up when it feels like they should just stop selling them.

They currently sell a 64gb iPhone 12 for £649 and an 128gb iPhone 13 at £749, hard to understand why they are still selling both.

13’s might be old stock. They are not advertising them in Australia. The telco's might have them though??

Thanks. Great advice. I’ve used EE before, but on the Isle of Wight they’re average, then so are all of them. But we’ll only be there 2 days but 2 weeks in Scotland.

I never said that. I said that is what you said.

We can disagree on things (clearly), but why shouldn’t I go to the UK? I love the UK. It'll be my 7th or 8th time I think, and a chance to get away from the 40°+ we always have at Christmas. Although, just moving to Tassie, the summers are a lot like UK's summers here. But if you're really worried, Inverness is probably along way from where you’ll be 😂
