I'm not a homophobe, thanks for trying. Apple was successful last year and the last 10 years before that. This year the continued it, spent the entire year with boring and predictable updates. So why is he the CEO of the year? For continuing Steve Jobs success? No, because him coming out sent a positive message and this award reinforces this positive message
The only issue with that is the 5 and 5S were still Jobs' creations. Cook had very little to do with their success, he was just at the helm at the time. iPhone 6 was the first iPhone created completely under Cook's reign.
Phones wasn't a new category. Neither was tablets. Or MP3 players. Or computers.
They were new for Apple, though, and they are credited with much of Apple's success.
You can play the "that's not innovation" game, but that could apply to anything Apple has ever done. They don't make new categories. They win by successfully exploring newly opened categories (usually).
Honestly, not that impressed. I could run Apple a million times better and have it making more money.
This exemplifies how out of touch MacRumors users are with the rest of the world.
Keep them coming.
You're right about the 5. But Apple acquired Authentec in 2012, so the iPhone 5s was created under Tim Cook.
The 5S may have been manufactured under Tim Cook, but it was still Steve Jobs' design. The 6/6+ was the first iPhone not fully crafted by Jobs.

in a world where you can literally still be imprisoned or killed in some countries for that, i'd say as a CEO it's actually kind of big. but i'd be surprised if it had anything to do with that at all, and everything to do with Apple's superb financial performance this year.
Well, the company is certainly making money but the OS is a disaster and he managed to piss off thousands of people with the Mac Mini soldered RAM and pathetic 'upgrade'.
Hope he gets his act together
Wouldn't call the iPhone 6/6Plus a success. It was a complete disaster. Did anyone not notice the supply problems from the second it was released?
Pushing his own personal agenda on behalf of the company
"THINNER IS BETTER"
Wrong. It's that "the rest of the world" has become Apple's target demographic, whereas quality used to be Apple's focus. Mentalities like yours are what's wrong with the world - you mediocritize everything.
He won the award for being gay. What did apple do that was so special this year? Bigger iPhone? Thinner iPad? Higher res iMac?
These are basic and boring expected updates

If you truly care about a carbon footprint go vegan. Factory farming is about 90% of issues that the world is having and now with more than 1/3 of the Amazonian forest destroyed (remember, trees convert carbon into oxygen). I think no amount of wasted iMacs will compare to the amount of burgers you all eat. See a movie called cowspiracy. Not a conspiracy theory and not pushy about veganism. Just proved documented facts of what's really damaging and issues with sustainability. But comfort is the most important thing, easier to buy a hybrid car than change your lifestyle.
