I want Little Snitch for my iPhone NOW. Something like Little Snitch would be GREAT! Apps that don't need the internet could be blocked. Ad sites could be blocked.

Apps like Little Snitch is a huge part of why I want Epic to win, and Apple to be court ordered to allow installing apps on MY iPhone from any source I choose.
Stuff like this is why I also want at least sideloading or any other way to install apps besides through the AppStore.

Right now: If Apple doesn't want/like an App, it just won't exist for the iPhone (yeah there's Cydia and so... but that's not easily doable and jailbreaking may or may not be possible on your device or software version).

That's my biggest issue with the AppStore. It's that Apple dictates what Apps are allowed on the iPhone and which are not.

People don’t realize how bad it was before the App Store, pre-iphone we had palm pilots, and you had to go online to shady unknown sites to buy apps, never knowing if they would steal your credit card info, or if the apps would work on your device, or if the apps were malicious. There were no guarantees about what the apps would or wouldn’t do. No cool features like automatic updates, or subscriptions all kept in a convenient place for the user. The App Store solved numerous problems, and the payment system allowed consumers to be safe without worrying if some random app like Fortnight from Epic Games was going to steal their card numbers and disappear overnight. With the guarantee that all the apps are safe to use, and are explicitly barred from snooping data and accessing system controls they shouldn’t. It was fairly common for apps to be so unstable as to crash your device. The Apple App Store rocks!

Having a 3rd party payment would be an additional payment option, Tim. An option. You know what "option" means, Tim?

Having a 3rd party payment option wouldn't make the App Store a flea market... no more so than a brick and mortar store having payment options aside from cash.

Does a brick and mortar store offering cash, check, debit, and credit card payments make it a flea market? No.
Does it dramatically lower the volume of customers going to the store? No.
Would it be bad for the customer? No.

The only thing that would be bad is Apple losing out on their 15% or 30% cut of the transaction. That's what Apple is worried about.

Want to talk about "confidence level," Tim. Let's talk about the confidence an app store user had in your App Store which lead to the loss of 17.1 bitcoins or of the App Store allowing scammers to rake in millions through the fake apps.
This is not the same. The point that is trying to be made is - in your reference, a brick and mortar store only takes card payments, debit credit or contactless, (no cheque cash)they have to pay fees to visa, mastercard, bank, terminal owner, etc for processing these payments. Only people with cards can use this shop, so clients are limited, as if u don’t have a card on you, or you don’t have that facility, you can’t use the shop, all transactions via card are monitored, genuine transactions, limits fraud etc. The fees help the companies with security to combat fraud, improve service infrastructure, ease of use, etc- Then the shop goes, new method of payment: Cash! Pay by Cash and save 15-30% of your bill. This saving is because the shop doesn’t have to pay fees to companies for processing payments. This saving is going to encourage people to pay by cash. Cash has problems, it can be faked, miss counted, robbed, laundered, etc. So when shop has a problem with a customers cash payment, when the shop goes to the bank and there is problems with cash, they ask the bank to rectify, and bank goes no, you’ve not used banks preferred method/services so we not liable. Shop angry, bank angry, some customers of the shop getting away with fraud, some of the customers of the shop don’t feel as safe, and now know it’s a place to be avoided, now big brands pull out from the shop as they don’t want to be associated with the few fraud transactions....

If the price was the exact same with direct payment of entering card details, or using App Store payment like Apple Pay, I would chose Apple Pay for the safety and convince, same as cash vs card in real world- cash is on the decline because of the ease of use of card. Epic knows this- which is why they would only get the custom buy significantly undercutting with their payment choice.

but a few questions back to you: epic are doing this because they say Apple is driving up the fees causing them to offer the same item for less- see my above scenario (as they not charging apples fees) saying it’s unfair practices- but if epic is making the same profit because they charge the consumer the difference, why haven’t consumers filed this law suit? If they have added on the fees for the consumer to pay, epic are still getting the same money regardless of which option is picked. So what is actually bothering them? The fact that they are forcing the consumer to pay apples fees? Because that is their choice to set the price for the item. They could lower it and a absorb the fees, or is it that they are greedy and want more profit, and I’ll bet if they win, after Apple is removed there they’ll charge same price to get an extra 15-30% profit.

Unfortunately, Tim Sweeney would WANT apps like Little Snitch banned from iOS since it could promote piracy and prevent him from making money. He would be spearheading a movement against port sniffing apps.
