Tim Cook Says Apple Still Not Considering 'Mass Layoffs'

If Tim Cook is smart, he should double down on some initiatives and increase the R&D resources and budget. Good time to get ahead when industry is cutting down.

The bottleneck at Apple is not with their R&D investment. Increasing it by itself would not have any meaningful advantage for Apple.

I didn’t say bottleneck, it could be get ahead when others are slowing down investments. Increase in resources and budget could involve acquisitions, and entering new or speeding up initiatives. Apple can use some good R&D around AI/Icloud/CV libraries for Apple metal.

In addition to holding an MBA, Tim Cook is also a degreed engineer.

Seeing Cook is CEO of one of the most successful companies in the world and is responsible for more than 160,000 employees, you're selling Cook astonishingly short saying he's no more than a clerk. Clearly you have no idea what his job entails.
Actually I do know. I've probably worked with more company Boards and CEOs, than the number of companies that have employed you and your best friends.

There have been many degreed individuals that have destroyed their company's top ranking. Nokia, Intel, IBM, etc. I'll also bet that every major bankrupt company in the last 5 years has been run by degreed individuals.

All of these companies that were at one time or another at the top of their game, until missteps and greed brought them back to earth. Apple's time is just around the corner. The handwriting is on the wall, if one cares to look, if one has any knowledge of how senior management decisions are made, and if one does not have their head in the sand.

That’s a really (REALLY!) weird comparison to make. Why is citysnaps’ and citysnaps’ best friends’ (what???) total number of employers relevant to your experience working with company boards and CEOs?

I realize you were attempting to dunk-on citysnaps by bragging about how many companies you worked with, but that was an extremely weird way of going about it, lol.

Unless you have worked with apple sr mgmt then you don’t know what you don’t know. Not sure what your post is suggesting though. You worked with a ceo and the company goes under?

The issue with many companies is the virtual mgmt silo structure that hobbles decision making.

I would love once to see that a CEO and senior C leave and management who make millions year in salary take huge pay cuts in order to divert money to people so they don't have to be laid off!!! Just think how many people's jobs can be saved if someone that makes $20-30M/year said, just give me $5M or less so we can save jobs. (pun intended) So many 6 figure and less people can continue to support their families and propel the company forward during the lean times. Just imagine... We need less of "I deserve this" and more "it's about team, not me."
The president of Nintendo did this when they ****ed up hard with the WiiU.

Yeah... people here have been saying that for at least a dozen years.

And as you claim, "Cook is really no more than a clerk that can read spreadsheets."
