How do you think the HomePod would determine if you were talking to it or your phone in the same room. For instance, I have Hey Siri turned ON on my IP7... If I had a HomePod, and say "Hey Siri", wouldn't both the phone and HomePod "wake up"?

iOS already takes care of this across multiple devices. There is no reason to suspect that the HomePod would lose this functionality.

Uhhhh...... Apple was still predictable when Steve was alive. What "One More Thing" are you referring to?

Get over it. Apple is doing extremely well and is still and awesome company.
I'm an Apple employee 30+ years you have no idea what your talking about.

I apologize if this question was asked before, or if it was explained previously, I have not read every message about the HomePod.

I am assuming the HomePod will be linked to an Apple ID account. This would allow Apple Music, and Siri with all its services to work correctly: voice control, messages, etc. My question is: will the HomePod only work with one Apple ID account? Can you link up several Apple ID accounts? This product will be much less personal than a phone or even an iPad. This will be in the middle of a living area, where more than one individual will be. It is intended to be used by multiple users.

What if you ask Siri through the HomePod to send a message? Will it only send one through the linked account? I picture a situation where you have a married couple and the wife asks Siri on the HomePod to message the husband. If her account is linked, it would work fine. Now what if he wants to message her? If you can only link one account, it would be a message from the wife to the wife. And even if it does allow multiple accounts, can it differentiate between users? Will it know the husbands voice versus the wives voice?

Does anyone have any deeper knowledge of how it will function in this regard?

I have a feeling there will be a homepod 2 coming. I don't think apple will get this go so easily. It's a great speaker. I only with there was an airplay 2 driver for windows.

I doubt there's a new HomePod coming. If they do release a HomePod 2, it won't be for some time. Generally when they have a new replacement for a product, they don't discontinue it and sell it "While supplies last" ** They would keep selling the HomePod and stop selling the current one when a new one is announced. If a new one was coming soon, they wouldn't have discontinued this model. They used the "while supplies last" tag when they discontinued Xserve and iMac Pro. I'd love to be wrong though.

**The original iPhone was listed as "Out of Stock" for a few weeks leading up to the iPhone 3G announcement in 2008.

Apple released a $6000 monitor and $1000 stand. They’ll update the HomePod and lower the price.
